Powerbank Deal Alert Thread?

Hi all,

In the recent months I noticed lots of BLF members asking which powerbank was best for their needs, and since I’m in the mobile phone business I thought it was a good idea to make a extensive thread about the top current powerbank options with best cost/performance ratio classified by capacity/size or price range. I’m not an expert in electronics by any means but I do have lots of experience when it comes to chargers and mobile power.

I always check for deals and am able to update this thread when new stuff comes out or good deals shows up, very often I encounter good deals but can’t find the appropriate thread to post them.

If you like the idea please chime in so I know there is at least some interest, thanks!

i’ve wondered if there were 26650 sized powerbanks. volume wise, wouldn’t does be the most compact for a generic battery size?

There are 26650 sized banks like these:

Cool! but I was thinking more of a multi-bay type going up to 20,000 etc.

The silver one costs 7.99$.

I have two of those. I wanted a small powerbank to take with me when I don’t carry a backpack or jacket. I quite like it.

HKJ reviewed it https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/40652

anybody knows of a test (not a review) of this charger/powerbank

Might be interesting for those laptop pull recycled batteries. Plus that I’m looking for a powerbank that doesn’t automatically shuts down at low current use.
Edit: or if anybody knows of a better (cheaper) alternative for this?

I will be looking in on this thread.

I’m looking to do some outdoor trail walking and are looking for a way to keep my technical gear charged during the tour. I need ca 14000mAh@5V. Weight is very important since I have to carry it.

Im looking at “Xiaomi 20000mAh” and “CHJGD Magnum Opus 21000mAh” CHJGD Magnum Opus review - Tech Advisor

“Xiaomi 20000” (330g) is well discussed here and seams like a good choise, spec-wise the “CHJGD Magnum Opus” (336g) seams better with QC3.0 , 1000mAh higher capacity, LCD display and led torch. All for 6g extra. It might have a lower efficiency but that is probably more than compensated by the extra 1000mAh…

I’m also looking for a smaller device for shorter trips then I’m looking at “Xiaomi-2 10000mAh” (219g) and “CHJGD UltraCompact Power Bank” (181g)

Anyone with thoughts or experience?

If you would like to go ultra light weight. Grab a miller ML-102 Charger/powerbank 32g. Then get as little or as many NCR18650B non protected cells as you need for your trip. each cell is 3350maH and 46g so charger plus 3 batteries would give you 170g and 10500maH at a true reading. Carrying 6 batteries to give you a total of 21000 and 309g.

There are advantages and disadvantages of this model.

Advantages: Always have 18650’s for flashlights (all be it, flat top) Can monitor the use of the batteries and more accurate power levels left. One power bank fits all approach (saves money). Can take the exact amount of batteries you need for that trip. Very light.

Disadvantages: Need to charge each cell individually (ok in multi charger). Carrying loose cells. Better for slow charging as single cells will be working alone.

Interesting

What would be the absolutely best batteries to buy? Money is not super important (since I have already spent so much on light outdoor gear….)

Link?

I like these, if you shop around you can get them for a lot cheaper

These are also a good battery capable of a bit more amps, so great for flashlights. Just check they will work with the miller though.

As for the unit, either here or it is a bit cheaper at gearbest. Could also look at the ML-202. (I have both). They are also great at taking a wide variety of Input charges (up to 18v small solar).

Amazon have the Ravpower 16750mAh on sale today for £16.99. The blurb says it uses premium LG/Panasonic cells. It has “iSmart technology” and can output up to 4.5A. It sounds like a great deal even if you wanted to just take the cells out for flashlights.
