Found the movie “Searching for Sugar Man” in internet with good quality. Tomorrow I can watch it… The references are intriguingly for documentary movie… plus your recommendation Mr. Robowski… I’ll left my opinion then.
Thanks for sharing with us Man Without Shadow! Don’t remember how long I have not heard such a song!
It looks like Jean Michel, but it goes much farther…
I’m sure, if we spend all our life for listening of music, we would find only part of it, that we would define as its own.
So, any side help is welcome…
Thanks Bonham again for reminding us of timeless bands like EWF..
They are indeed my favourite funk band.
And thanks for letting us know about Aretha – The Queen
I just looked it up on the news after I read this.
We can only send our best thoughts to her and wishes for recovery.

Thanks for all the GREAT videos.
My claim to fame is that I met Johnny Winter Three times in my home town of Phoenixville, PA.at the Colonial Theater. My Jimi Hendrix Pictures got me back stage ALL 3 times! My brother took them on April 12, 1969 @ the Spectrum in Philly. Of course Johnny played w/ Jimi and loved him!
People were getting autographs[20 second encounter] and it was more important to me to spend ~ 3 minutes with him, show him the pictures of Jimi and talk about him and Jimi.
The other is I met James Allen Hendrix Twice in his home in Seattle,WA. He is Jimi’s father! The year was 2000, Two years before Al passed away.

I grew up in South Africa in the 70’s and remember the popularity of Rodriguez and the life & times as described in the movie.
The one thing they didn’t really mention was that he was also quite popular in Australia and toured here in 1979 and 1981.

I think mentioning Oz would have ruined the fairy tale narrative
This is a little different for this thread, but several of us here at casa manithree are really into jazz. My daughter recently introduced me to the sounds of Polyrhthmics and EMEFE two bands she saw at the Telluride Jazz Festival.
Oh, what the heck, here is that same daughter playing barefoot jenga, then introducing and performing with the Hooligans Brass Band.
I had that Sparks album but gave a lot of my records away when I moved countries.
The vocals of Russell Mael sound very similar to Freddie Mercury.
Both bands released their first albums around about the same time.
The summer has already passed, but Ouzo still reminds me of my vacation and the hot days.
Mentioning ouzo we always think of Greece, the islands and Greek music.
And one of the best – Dimitris Mitropanos with Roza
Wow…Jaco!
haven’t heard him mentioned for decades..
I used to like Weather Report in the 70’s
He came to a very sad ending – so much talent
Will have to check these albums out.
I never quite got into Grand Funk, they seem to have popped up from nowhere, sold millions of albums, then disappear as quickly as they arrived.
At least that’s what I thought growing up in South Africa where we had no TV, censored radio stations, and limited information on bands etc.
I thought they might have been one of those bands pushed and promoted into stardom by the record company.
Please shoot me if I’m wrong but make it quick and painless….

I saw Jaco several times with Weather Report in the 70’s, and his Word Of Mouth band in a small club a few years before he died. What a shame that was. He’s my favorite bass player. I was crushed when I heard the news.
As far as Grand Funk, most of my friends hated them. I loved their simple catchy tunes with really strong bass played by Mel Schacker. To eash his own I guess.
When I listen to Grand Funk I seem to be on another planet.

The same situation.
I have never seen them as typical commercial performers …
Selling so many albums at that time was almost a guarantee of quality.
And I have not seen them as some others to appear in old age with a lost voice or no characteristic sound.
Most of the songs of Grand Funk have a very optimistic charge.
That’s one reason I like them a lot.
Blues, Country, Folk music. Ray Wylie Hubbard has been around for almost 40 years.
Has anybody heard the story about Rodriguez?
An interesting movie to watch https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Searching_for_Sugar_Man
I think it’s on Netfix or some of the other movie channels.
Here is a live clip:

“The King is dead, long live the King!”
Probably the new king of music has occurred somewhere in the world. We’ll probably hear about him …
But now, let’s give our tribute to the Queen we lost today!
Thanks for all the GREAT videos.

WOLFDOG
Hello again Bonham,
Indeed a sad say. Aretha’s suffering has ended.
As Don McLean once said “The day the music died”
Wolfdog – incredible memories for you – thanks for sharing
Great doco. He’s coming to Oz soon. Mrs wants to go see.

Jose Feliciano – Gypsy
Live stream concert from Paul McCartney should start any moment.
What an opening song!!! Hard Days Night

Simon & Garfunkel – The Boxer
Sparks – This Town Ain’t Big Enough For Both Of Us
Thanks again for the memories Bonham

Thanks for the good target friends!
I had not heard of Eduard Khil before. Surprise …
The summer has already passed, but Ouzo still reminds me of my vacation and the hot days.
Mentioning ouzo we always think of Greece, the islands and Greek music.
And one of the best – Dimitris Mitropanos with Roza
Joni Mitchell wrote some great songs like Woodstock, and Big Yellow Taxi
Great tunes! I love Joni’s later albums with Jaco on bass like Hejira
One of my favorites is Jericho from the Don Juan’s Reckless Daughter album (Jaco on bass)
Boycott Nike
Now something from one of my favorite bands

Sorry for commercial format.
