It might have both, like the MF03. I don’t think they would waste their time active cooling a bunch of low wattage emitters like a 5 x xhp35 light. In order to offset the development cost of the active cooling system, one would assume it’s going to be a very high-powered light with a fairly high price tag.
BTW, the Acebeam X70 actively cooled light just got its official MSRP price of $750.
I wish we could get a little detail on the MF05, such as the size of the light. Is it going to be big like the MF03?

Here is some speculation of what the MF05 COULD BE, based on some info Lexel posted about the MF03. It seems probable because we know the MF03 is a big, mega power light so it makes sense that Astrolux might want to make an active cooled version of that mega powered light.
Anyway, Mateminco asked him for a driver design to power the 8 x xhp70.2 plus 1 x xhp35-HI.
His idea is to use 10 batteries in it with a 21v buck driver to produce about 385 watts or about 48,000 lumen! His post.
Anyway, it may or may not happen with the MF03, so it’s just something to think about. Would you want an actively cooled, 48k lumen, 10 × 18650 cell monster light?

What would be the weight of this monster?
The GT with 8 cells is 5 lbs. Maybe around that weight? Maybe more?

MF05 is more of a high performance, high CRI, medium size flashlight. Completely different form factor from MF03. More appealing for the masses, in terms of weight, power, and price.
I can guarantee that at least 95+% of the members here (including me), have not owned a light with such configuration.

My guess is quite some more.
Two cells more, lots of leds (with copper dtp boards) that will still need a lot of mass plus the active cooling……if it’s “affordable” it’s going to be awesome!

Ah, so they are not trying to compete with the Acebeam X70.
What can you tell us about the form factor?
4 × 18650? (Like Q8)
2 × 26650? (Like Convoy L6)

It’s kind of a moot point now that we know the MF05 is going to be more of a medium sized light.
By the way, the Imalent DX80 (similar size with 8 cells) is only 2.7lbs. Which goes to show the GT is a bit overweight.
Also, with active cooling you don’t need a lot of mass.
