TINI2!

This looks pretty decent once it gets some discount coupons: https://flashlight.nitecore.com/product/tini2
Happy to see easy access to low, no PWM, and while “intelligent memory” sounds like a bummer I think the display will tell you what level the light is in without actually turning it on.
I love little lights but they’re often ruined by the UI. This might be good enough. Anyone have one yet?
I can’t tell from the page but maybe they’ll let you increment from low if you long-press to start on low.

I like the tiny OLED display... direct access to Ultra Low and Turbo, and they fix the battery draining issue the previous TINI has with 2nd-Level lock.

Yes, if you start at UltraLow, you can still cycle from UltraLow ==> Low ==> Mid ==> High ==> UltraLow... Although I just got it, but I'm already liking the UI especially no more guessing on the battery status.

Planning to do a quick review soon... in the mean time... check out the following video by [NITECORE Store] , i think they have done a fantastic job introducing the TINI 2:

Nitecore TINI 2 - 500 Lumen USB-C Rechargeable Keychain Flashlight - YouTube

This looks like a great light. It keeps the great screen from the TUP but puts it in a smaller size fit for a keychain. Sure, it’s not as powerful on turbo as the TUP, but 500 lumens is still great.

That stage two lockout will be mandatory though, if using it on a keychain. Those Nitecore buttons (besides being flimsy and the weakest point of previous lights using them) are very easy to click.

Rookiedaddy, thanks for the info about mode switching, it doesn’t seem like a big detail but it makes it much more usable for me.

MoreLumens, that’s a good question. Usually when they don’t say we can assume the worst. I haven’t kept up with emitters this year so I don’t know anything about the P8s. If it’s a decent light it’s worth the effort to swap emitters if replacements are available.

I’ve got a TIP2 SE on a slow boat from somewhere so it’ll be months before I see one of these. Will post if I find out anything.

that is a good looking light.

I wonder how many months till oled will burn-out…

Cool little light! The video was pretty funny too.

Is that a thing? No experience or knowledge about OLEDs, certainly a consideration if it is.
I’ll check the TUP threads and see if any of the users have issues.
The TUP didn’t seem like a big seller so might not be a big sample size.

Is this bigger or smaller then a Tip? I need a replacement but actually want something a little smaller if possible with a good lockout.

Quite a bit smaller. Don’t have the new TINI2 but here is a comparison of the original with a TIP. The 2 TINIs are very close in size.

Thanks for the comparison. I really wanted the first tini but it always turned on in my pocket while working. I’m hoping the new lockout is as good or better then the first Tip.

Can turbo be activated permanently, or is it just a momentary mode?

However, this time Nitecore seem to have developed a nearly perfect keychain light. If the LED can be swapped, it will land on my wish list.

From what I’ve seen, turbo is momentary.
As a BLF member I’m spoiled by all the deals and coupons so I never pay more than I have to. This time I didn’t feel like waiting 4-8 weeks so I ordered one from Amazon. It’ll be here Thursday, will post with any modding info after I take it apart.

Got the light last night, it’s pretty much what I expected; TINI, v2.
Tint is cool in the center and warm at the edge of the flood. Reminds me of the tint shift across the XM-L beam profile. Not horrible and less noticeable when using it for real stuff.
Their 1 lumen output is hardly “ultralow” but it’s low enough for me but don’t look to this light if you’re hoping it might err on the side of sub-lumen output.
If I could change one thing about the UI it would be either have access to Low on lockout instead of turbo, or have access to Low on power button and Turbo on mode button.

I tried to take it apart and it seems like there is a ribbon cable for the display hanging on tight to the top half, only could get it up 3/16” or so. Bottom came off with no effort.
If it is to be modded it looks like the aluminum board behind the MCPCB board needs to come out to allow it to be pulled away from optics. Pulling it straight out would de-dome the emitters and any you tried to squeeze back in would suffer the same fate.

If it reaches the point that the light doesn’t get used I’ll be more likely to see if the top side can come off. I’ll need to get some use out of it before potentially destroying it.
That point may come sooner than later. The buttons are just as sensitive as you’d expect. As on the original TIP I will file down the tops of the switches to a point that reduces accidental activation.

Here’s a picture from the bottom:

Thanks for showing :+1: . Moon might not be important in keychain use. Hoping for a TINI2 CRI.

Are there any deals on this? I haven’t seen anything so far, even m4deals is 39.99

I got my tip se for a decent amount and don’t want to overpay on this

10off works for now. Gotta be careful as if the discount drops it below $35, you get hit with shipping. Just ordered one.

Works where? Both bg and gb are charging shipping from what I can tell

Sorry. I used it on the Nitecore site for the discount code.

That’s hilarious, I tried it on bg and it worked. Lol. Still didn’t buy. I paid $22 for the tip se. Not paying over $30 for the tini2
