Bands no one knows... That rock

Do you have a favorite unknown...little known...local band ?

Absolutely

Their name is “indignu” and play post-rock!

HCTM - Here Come the Mummies. They put on a fun show at concerts and are great musicians, with all original songs with humorous lyrics. Catch a show if they come nearby.

There’s a few for me. One of my favourites is a band called Sertraline - SERTRALINE - Inside Out [Official Video] - YouTube

Or a band called Fangs Out, one of the guys that works for me is the bassist - Fangs Out - Dragged Up - YouTube

Jamgrass band Cabinet

Wish I could remember the name of a band that is local to you. Heard them at a wonderful outdoor park on the south outskirts of Dayton. (Assume that is your location by your tagline.) The lead singer really put on quite a show. One thing I remember was that he would do these incredibly high kicks and pop balloons that were hanging on wire above his head. They really were quite a good band that no one likely has heard of but I am pretty sure you will know who I am talking about. OTOH, this was just before or right about the time we both joined the forum and that was a while ago;-)

Here is one of our local gems — we have so many!

One more local gem I hope to listen to this weekend.

Here's an Ohio band that used to get a lot of play time back in the day. They toured with Allman brothers and Charlie Daniels .Some nicely written original songs.

Huh... local bands are Ohio players ..Lakeside .

..Slave . all pretty popular funk bands

Great find and sound, Pennzy!

Thank you!

Found your local band that I thought was pretty neat. You ever hear them?

Flying Colors is a supergroup that nobody knows but they write some absolutely INCREDIBLE music.

Evidently Pat Benatar because she’s still not in the HOF, but Dolly Parton will soon be and numerous other none Rock stars are already in

One of my fav from way back, Angel Witch.

And Triumph should be in the HOF, among so many others… But def yes for Pat Benatar, she should’ve been right behind Linda Ronstadt.

I wouldn't call them "unknown", but my favorite rock band is Failure.

I listen to Failure (and other Ken Andrews bands) every day.

Zero

Zero is a relatively unknown jam band headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Although occasionally guilty of jam-band excess, lead guitarist Steve Kimock is a frequently brilliant improvisor. Ditto, Martín Fierro on sax. Both have musical connections to the Grateful Dead, as do a few of the other band members, including founding member, drummer Greg Anton. Another founding member was guitarist John Cipollina, famous for his time with Quicksilver Messenger Service.

At various times, keyboard duties have been handled by Nicky Hopkins and Pete Sears, among others. Hopkins is the renowned session player who appears on recordings by many of the greatest acts in rock, including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, The Who, Quicksilver Messenger Service, and Jefferson Airplane. Pete Sears, meanwhile, has played with Jefferson Starship and Hot Tuna.

I saw Zero perform a bunch of times in the '90s, the first of which was the infamous show where emcee Wavy Gravy hit Martín Fierro in the face with a pie as payback for the (then) recent show where Martín pulled down Wavy's pants on stage!

Zero is one of those taper-friendly bands that let folks bring in thousands of dollars of mics and recording equipment to their gigs. As a result, you can find several hundred concert recordings preserved for free listening at archive.org: https://archive.org/details/Zero

Yes, we can add Steppenwolf and Joe Cocker to the non-HOF list. Makes the HOF kind of a joke IMO.

Wow I had no idea they were still around.

I saw them at the Blue Note in Cincy in the mid 90’s. Was friends with & helping out a Dayton band (Festive Skeletons) that played the same night.

Was the outdoor venue you mentioned Fraze Pavilion
