The Gender Bender / Do you get things intended for another gender?

I'm a guy, but I sometimes buy things intended for women.

I have a black silk jacket that I got at a thrift store.

It's a nice women's jacket, it doesn't look feminine, and it was very cheap.

I also bought a JanSport backback marketed toward women.

It's even named "Penelope 34" by JanSport.

It's made to fit a woman's body, but it fits my body just fine even though I'm a flat chested male.

It has parts on it that glow in the dark, but it doesn't look feminine, and it was pretty cheap.

Today I got some probiotics made for women.

Typically, men have upper GI problems, and women have lower GI problems.

I'm having lower GI problems, and the men's formula cost 50% more than the women's formula on both Amazon and eBay.

Amazon women's: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B096FCP7K6

eBay men's/women's: https://www.ebay.com/itm/125247156602

eBay women's: https://www.ebay.com/itm/125250853246

I got the eBay women's probiotics partly because it's cheapest overall.

I hope that it's safe for me to do that because they are different formulas.

When I see my regular doctor, or GI doctor, I'll ask them if it's safe, but I think it is.

Do you get things intended for another gender?

Mens hair products suuuuuuuck. My curly red gets all dry and frizzy unless I use womens conditioner.

I trim my "downstairs" hair weekly.

I use this conditioner for that area once a week.

It's really nice and make me comfortable (non-itchy) down there, but this conditioner is gender-neutral.

Men's hair products are pretty bad, though.

EDIT:

I forgot to mention the best part of my "women's" backpack.

The main colors are light blue and medium blue, kinda like the default colors of the Commodore 64, my first computer.

Here's a low resolution pic of my backpack that I found online.

It doesn't look feminine to me, but "it's built for a woman's body."

I would love to get the car insurance rates women get

Its kind of insulting, the subpar crap we’re tossed in certain categories. Clothes for instance. You have to pay alot more to get things that fit right.

On the other hand, certain things geared towards women make shake my head at how subpar it is.

Marketing is a funny thing.

I find most things intended for the only other gender impractical.

I used to use Lynx branded deoderant all the time, but I had to start using a brand that caters to women, because my skin would react badly to other deoderants. Feels odd buying womens deoderant but hey, it works so I ain’t complaining!

You and me both buddy…

That’s because the average life cycle of womenswear is one season, and there are four seasons in a year. Where as the average man buys something to wear, he will wear it till the sun shines in places where the sun normally does not shine. So the manufacturer of menswear is aiming at a profit with roughly the frequency of “el Niño”.

Edit: this is not a joke. We helped a befriended couple moving to their new home. After carrying five or six big boxes with “Anna’s shoes” written on it, I asked about the shoes of Peter. And Anna said: he’s wearing them.

Yeah, that black silk jacket.

I think I wore it so frequently, and for so many years, that it eventually fell apart and I had to throw it away.

It was great when it was just a little bit cold.

(I have heavier jackets for when it gets really cold, which isn't too often in California.)

I felt that. I have 5 pairs of footwear and sometimes I feel they’re too much.

If it doesn’t look “girly” I really don’t care what I wear. As for products if it works I use it.

Most of the stuff I use is store branded because I don’t notice enough difference between it and the branded products to pay for a brand logo. With the store brands the packaging is pretty bland anyways.

I decided to get a new jacket to replace the one that fell apart.

I looked on Amazon, and I looked at both men's and women's jackets.

I want a black or navy blue quilted jacket.

The final two contenders...

men's jacket by Dickies https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001IVY8Q2?th=1&psc=1

women's jacket by andy & natalie https://www.amazon.com/dp/B081SHM9K4?th=1&psc=1

The men's jacket is nicer, and is probably more durable, but the women's jacket is not nearly as warm, and I want a very light jacket, so I'm thinking about getting the women's jacket.

I might not buy it right away because I don't need it until Fall.

$45 is kinda expensive for a lightweight jacket, so I hope the price drops.

I got a few purple flashlights. Convoy, Olight, and Mateminco. Looks really cool along with the rest of my collection.

It’s all a blur anymore. Wear what ever.

I have one of those dickies jackets. I bought mine new a few years ago in a brick and mortar store and didn’t give half that. Wanna say it was at a sears.

Yeah, the price of both of those Amazon jackets have gone up a lot in the last couple of years.

I really want the men's jacket because I think it's made better, but I can wear the women's jacket more frequently in my very warm part of California.

The women's jacket looks just like the one I got from the thrift shop, but that one was silk and the one from Amazon is nylon.

As nice as silk is, nylon is more durable, so it's probably a better choice.

I guess it does look a little bit feminine, but I think it would look good on me and I generally try to avoid wearing things that look "girlie."

“Do you get things intended for another gender?”
yes.

1. gifts/presents/etc.
2. food/drink.
3. books.

No.

I use a pair of Channellocks to pull them out —- Then I put Merthiolate to control the bleeding —— :open_mouth: :open_mouth:
