Best EDC

what is the best EDC flashlight/reliable/good trow/good flood…….less than 100 usd

Some kind of emisar take your pick

You’re going to need to tell us what you’re looking for in better detail. What does “edc” mean to you, exactly? Do you have a particular battery size that you want to use? Do you want floody for closer work, a balanced beam for general use with a little reach, or throwy which is usually not as good up close or for seeing around your feet when walking but will reach out a lot farther? Do you prioritize brightness over run time? Extra small, small, medium? Tail switch or side switch? Single emitter or multiple emitters? Do you have a regular battery charger or do you need something with onboard usb charging or a usb-charge cell?

There are literally hundreds of lights less than $100 that could all be “edc” to someone.

What is the best car?

I think you get the point.

Lights unlike cars, are cheap enough where you can have some or many, or a crazy collection like many people on this forum.

Forgot about asking about the best light, sample a few and make the decision on your own.

Great hobby and BLF is a wonderful web site with wonderful people.

Get involved as little or as much as you want.

My immediate thought is the Convoy S2+ with a 519A LED.

I really like the 18650 battery size and capacity for an EDC, but some may consider it too big. Then again, some prefer the 21700 size with even more capacity, but I find it just a little too big in my pocket.

Too many good lights available and too many different people’s ideas and needs or wants for there to be a single best light. I think one figures out what suits themself best after checking out a variety. Sort of like deciding on a partner or mate.

I like my Emisar D4V2 quite well. Mostly floody but it’s so bright (for a short while until thermal stepdown) it’ll reach pretty far, too. Using it at a few hundred lumens will illuminate your path just fine, and a quick double-click will jump it to max when you want to see far away for a bit. I did night deliveries for a few months, had to spot house numbers from the street, and this light was perfect for the task of nighttime EDC.

18650 lights are somewhat larger than I’d prefer for daytime EDC, though. For that I prefer 1-AAA twisties. 100 lumens or so is plenty for a quick look under a desk or if I have to navigate when the power suddenly goes out.

^ D4v2 with 18350 tube is pretty pocketable.

Oh, it's gotta be the Chevrolet Corvair!

Probably some Hanks Emisar anyway

Your preference on battery size is most important. For example, my Sofirn C01S gets carried most as my “EDC”, I find 18650 lights are mostly too fat for jeans pocket carry.

That little bit of French I studied is paying off. I actually get the gist of what he is saying.

Any capable of using easy available batteries such as AA format… Even better USB charging function…

compact/ rechargeable/ strong( impact tool)/ simple interface :+1:

For me it kind of gets down to throw first. When I lived in the country I frequently needed to see out more than 50 meters so an EDC light was a much different calculation than it is today. Today, I live in the city and rarely need to look out more than 50 meters so an even beam with a nice tint is much more important to me. The ability to get work done hands free at relatively close range is what is most important for me. The next calculation is of course run time. Pick the smallest battery type that will comfortably cover your expected run time.

Currently I am very happy with my EDC setup. The TS10 Pro just disappears in the pocket. Amazing light. Great fun, great design, A2, great tint and beam. In my 5th pocket is an E03H II. Very useful and also beautiful beam. Clip, magnet, and (headband, not carried but optionally used) satisfy my EDC requirement for hands free use.

Have EDC’d a TS21 and it really carries amazingly well IMHO. Really doesn’t take up that much room and the clip is so good that I never worried about loosing it. The run times with the 21700 are fantastic and if I needed more run time this could easily work its way back into the rotation. Although, this being winter, I kind of still do EDC it as it lives in my winter coat pocket.

Short answer; at BLF an EDC is almost inherently plural and there are many different preferences for what actually constitutes an EDC.
