Current Best Single 18650 thrower

I'm currently looking for the best Single 18650 thrower, My best so far is the Trustfire X9 with 2.8A driver but I wanted something to throw twice farther(If possible). I think an Aspheric light is the way to go, previously have a SMall sun flood to throw that throws farther than my X9 but looking for something with better quality.

- single cell light

- Not expensive

- If needs modding its should be easy

Thanks Guys.

It’s not aspheric but the one I’m looking to get that’s been getting rave reviews is the UF HD2010.

Thinking of HD2010 too. It has the nicest beam of all the budget XM-L thrower I've seen (from beamshot pictures I mean, I don't have one, yet).

It has bigger body though as it accepts both 26650 and 18650+tube. Don't know if this qualifies as your single 18650 (only?) light requirement or not.

Is there a review of this light showing lux numbers? Wanted something that will significantly out throws my Modded X9(2.8A driver and UCL) which is on the 40k lux rating(tested 38k with stock lens).

Thinking of the Yezl T9 and modding it with an XRE R2 led if its easy enough to do.

Any other options?

To go twice as far, you'd need 160k cd. Unfortunately nothing like that exists. Even if you broaden the selection to include other battery types, the DEFT HO could do it (used market) but that's more like over 100 bucks still in used form.

I know, can ask Pok to do up a TRA-66 for you. :) Basically a 66mm lens, EZ900. But still needs 2 cells.

Basically with a XR-E, you can't run away from multi-cells, unfortunately.

I'm here 2100 lol

I made TRA-66 , It does 150,000 lux@1meter.

XRE-EZ900 , 1.2A 4-18V driver , 66mm aspheric lens.

It can swap battery tube or driver for 1x18650 or 2xCR123 2xRCR123, drive @ 1.4 - 1.5A

I will make them more but.....

I can't fine bezel host anymore...

Pok, I can never get over just how astounding that light is!

Wow that's a really amazing thrower. Would love to see something like that in person. The best thrower I seen or tested is a friends DBS v3 2x18650 light.

Maybe the twice farther criteria is a bit too much, 80k lux maybe?

Wow...Pok is very fast. :D

80k cd can just get a Dereelight DBS aspheric and be done with it. 82 bucks i think.... 90k cd plus with 2 cells, i believe with 1 x 18650 i measured to be like 50k or so. it's not budget light, but the built is definitely at the top level of budgetlight, and I don't see many CPFers dissing it as well. Not too bad!

How much do you ask for this light if you would make it again :p?

I would be surprised if a stock HD2010 out-threw your X9 setup. If you modded it with a U2 flux BIN and UCL lens maybe it would, but stock I dont think it will. The stock 2010 driver drives the XML pretty hard with a good cell that can deliver ~4A. The 2010 and X9 have very similar reflectors... IIRC. The X9 and HD2010 are the biggest single cell XML reflector designs I know of with reflector dish slightly over 50mm diameter. Someone posted in another thread that their stock HD2010 did about ~40K Lux. Andi did an XML mod to get nearly 80k Lux from an XML... thread here. I am not sure if double Lux equates to double the throw distance though.

Since you're looking for TWICE the throw distance, I think you need to start looking at XRE die projection aspherics, XRE in a big (50mm++) reflector or bigger HID designs. The XML is just not the best coice if you want to put a spot of light way out there. You have to go to pretty extreme measures with designs that may not be very practical physically or financially.

FWIW I have this light on order... they say its overall diameter is 58mm. So I am guessing it also has a 50+mm reflector. I'll post impressions when it arrives, I would not expect this light to out-throw the HD2010 or X9 though.

I can throw a single 18650 cell 127 feet! Try and beat that...

Is that because the XRE has a Vf>Vbatt in a single cell configuration?... so you need to buck 2xseries Vbatt down to XRE-Vf?

thanks!!

I will tell you when I get bezel host

If you drive XR-E @ 1.4A Vf is around 3.6 - 4.0V.

But @ 1.4A while 1x18650 Vin sag to 3.8-4.0V, so you need Vin > Vf around 1V up and depend on driver.

OK thanks!!

I have a lot of XR-Es with relatively low Vf, I mean if you drive them with a good cell, the current goes up to 2A easily. Starting from this, if you combine these XR-Es with a 1.5A amc7135 board, you will get a nicely regulated output.

And this is my cheap version of 66mm aspherical:

lens was $4.9, host ~$6, led ~$3-4 = 130-140k lux ;)

but I don't like it so much, the beam is too narrow for me, like a laser.

Wow nice host, could you have any link for this host.

Thanks.
