10mm linear driver- discussion thread now

Both Matt and I will have extras so you are not too late. I’ll put you on the list for 6.

I’d take 10 of the .8 boards if the I there is an opening on the list. Very interesting project, I really enjoy watching the R&D, and team effort that goes into these threads.

Thanks to all parties involved.

I ordered some of the thicker PCBs from OSH Park. I just wanted to say thank you for making this possible!

Your welcome and you’re on.

Matt did all the heavy lifting here and the design is pure BLF, but Thanks Chloe!

Oh yeah...Mattaus is a beast on Eagle...guy is an absolute genius!

I have 3-10mm coming in from OSHPark as well...as well as 3-SRK 7135 drivers...but waiting on the "new hotness" that should be coming out soon ;)

The thin boards are ordered.

Got my order from OSHpark today:

mine were all separated, hmm…not sure why your’s were all still together, but most awesome!

I got my SRK and 10mm drivers in way cool!

My images are NO-WHERE near as awesome as yours!

O^O

Umm, whats with the dinner plates? How big is the pill they fit in to.

They fit the Sky Ray King 12A of 7135 goodness right there

Mine came in 3 sets of 4, attached 2x2

I dont know how these will be shipped but they will be half as thick.

Thanks for organizing this again. Just let us know how much we owe you and were to pay.

You need to decide whether you want them in an envelop or a bubble mailer. Mailers cost more to post. The boards weigh nothing and properly carded should be ok in an envelop unlike the heavy sink pads that went astray. I expect an envelop to be no more than $1.25 and the mailer twice that but won’t know until I actually mail a set. The single beta boards were ~ $.75 postage plus the envelop. The boards are $.70 each. I’ll set up a collection thread when they arrive and make special arrangements with Djozz for his allotment. The Aussie contingent will be getting their boards from Mattaus after I send fifty back to him. There has been no update yet from the manufacturer on eta but we were initially told to allow two weeks for production.

I ordered one of these from a different supplier
http://www.fasttech.com/products/1601/10000618/1057212-mxdl-xt7224-3w-50-lumen-led-flashlight-with-clip
2x AAA, can’t use it without a blank or spacer

Then I see this

If it is built the same…the current “pill” is easy to slide out

Here is what I got from the current 2xAAA

I am hoping it will be easy enough to build a pill and solder on a 10mm sinkpad on a piece of copper tubing and go from there…

There are actually quite a few nice AAA sized “hosts” available from FT…I never really thought to search…but darnit…there they are

And if worse comes to worse…there is a 12mm version of the BLF Tiny 10 thanks to Mattaus

I will be pretty much duplicating what Old-Lumens did below

Go to Dollar Tree. They have two packs of cardboard photograph mailers for $1. They mail at the letter rate instead of the parcel rate.

Ok, that’ll be somewhere in between and there’s a dollar tree nearby.

The boards are on the way to me! Going to dollar tree tomorrow to check out packaging.

BTW, Dollar Tree has a new flood-to-throw aspheric flashlight. All plastic, rather crappy, runs on 4 LR44 cells. In throw mode the beam is not just ringy… it IS a ring.

I put the 10.5 mm and 12 mm Oshpark links in the op along with a link to the latest and greatest version. Thanks again to Matt, Texaspyro, and everyone else that jumped in to play.

Is it time for a sticky with a list of available Oshpark products?
