12g Shotgun flashlight recommendations?

That is even more solid than what I did on mine. What I used is just Krazy Glue gel. I just put a bead around the perimeter of the LED substrate (the square that the LED is on) where it sits on the star. Sometimes if the LED gets hot enough the solder under it can loosen and the LED can pop off the star (MCPCB) if bumped or subjected to shock. Putting a bead of the gel around the edge of the emitter substrate will keep the LED from popping free of the MCPCB.

I thought about fully epoxying/potting the top of the star but then I could never swap the emitter. Doing what Vinh does is as permanent as it gets. If I was making it for someone else I'd probably to what he did.

I like your idea, this Crazy glue should be enough… P60 drop ins are getting very hot in some hosts so I guess emitters could really unsolder from mcpcb in combination with strong shotgun recoil.

Here is a little update. I got the two mounts in. Here they are together. I think I will go with the one that keeps the light tighter to the gun. Less likely to snag on stuff.

The downside is that it’s a hair too close to the rail to clear the front sight, unless I have it on a slight angle which I’d rather not, because it will throw the beam off target at longer distances. Consequently there is a cut out in the beam pattern. Annoying now but perhaps it wouldn’t matter in the heat of the moment?

Here it is on its own.

That is a nice mount. I love mine, and it sure looks more professional than a scope ring :stuck_out_tongue:

Here is how my 2.2A XP-G2 L2m is mounted. Tape switch is used for a high thumb grip.
