Im hoping to mod a milwaukee m12 worklight with an old wolf eyes seal ive got knocking around (both lenses)
The idea is to have a single lamp i keep in the 4x4 for a work light, utility light, camping, and hunting light.
Very small cab and every bit of space helps
3 mode hi/med/low driver would be nice but not a deal breaker.
Hey welcome to BLF. Sorry to answer your question with more questions, I’m trying to clarify exactly what you want before recommending you spend a load of money on something unsuitable.
Am I correct in assuming you want a “multi-head light” that you can swap different heads?
The M12 appears to come in different formats, which is the one you have? And what’s your plan on how to attach the different heads to the M12 body? Can you fabricate a threaded adapter?
I’m assuming most of the lamp is plastic, you’ll not manage enough heat sinking to really push the big LEDs hard as the heat will damage the LED.
When you also ask for 12v driver, do you mean 12v supply and either 3V or 6V or 12v output (most common LED voltages)? The battery pack for the Milwaukee is (guessing) 3S lithium cells, so will provide between 9V and 12.6V depending on the charge status of the battery.
AliExpress has a number of LED drivers if you search 12V LED flashlight driver. I’m not sure what size you have inside the M12 at the moment, so many of these drivers won’t physically fit.
Bear in mind, most flashlights have a battery tube then the driver and LED are in the head, the underside of the driver is the positive battery contact. In this same mannor, you may need to get a separate driver and LED combination for each head you want to screw onto the light?
Alternatively, you could buy a Convoy C8+ with SFT-40 or similar for not a lot of money…
The m12 light is largly irrelevant other than the battery.
I’ve made an aluminum adaptor to shove the whole wolf eyes flashlight into …just cut the tube down a bit. Heat sink wont be a problem
So id be looking to change the driver and led in the standard wolf eyes pill to take 12v in and whatever output the led needs.
Not looking to push super hard but yeah, a bit of performance would be nice…a street tune if you will
Ill post some pics of everything tomorrow if its still confusing and i can work out how lol
I already have them in my vehicle kit, the lamp is a much better format for my uses than a flashlight, and id have to carry many spare 18650’s or a charger. (Already have an m12 charger fitted)
I want the work lamp but want to make it do flashlight duties too
KaiDomain has a bunch of 3 cell / 12V input drivers. 1 mode, 3 mode, 5 mode, etc. The driver you choose should suit the LED you choose, or vice versa. Do you want high CRI or maximum output or maximum throw?
What type of led? Middling really this being a utility light, although id want it to work decently well with the big wolf eyes aspheric lens.
Not looking for any great exotica just something decent
Also, how do you quote on this forum?
Just tried all the buttons and couldnt find one that works, browsing on android
You could put a SFT40 5000k in it. Drive it at 6 Amps (or 8 Amps for maximum output.) Drivers will be easy to find as they’re a 3V LED and a common LED. You’ll need to make sure the LED / head has good heatsinking.
Do you know what diameter the current driver is? Kaidomain or AliExpress (Convoy store) would be two places to look for parts.
