18650 Battery Acronyms

Ok, so I’ve googled and found little tid bits here and there (some leading back to this forum) about these batteries and I still don’t know what they all mean and what the difference is in use. Was looking to get some new 18650 batteries from FastTech but the list of choices is a little nuts. I know what the mAh means, but what is…

ICR
NCR
CGR
TR
UR

Are they specific to the particular brand or are they in fact different types for different uses?

ICR is a std lithium cobalt cell,IMR is the high drain lithium manganese “safer”cell,no protection.Panasonic NCR’s are Li Co,CGR’s are Li Mn,or maybe hybrids.I beleive Pana PF’s are Li Co MN high drain hybrids, available with or without protection.TR,Trustfire?UR Sanyo UR18650F-Li Co

Avoid trustfire / _any_fire. They can often be counterfeit / rewrapped used cells or just poor quality. Can be dangerous. Plus their mAh are lies.

If your in the usa RMM has great protected batteries.
