18650's at walmart

Or like a Swan 350, especially cold. QSY? k

I agree 100%
It is all about money, not about consumer safety.

Well, I do not believe I have ever been call uninitiated and to be honest I had to look it up. I can not blame Walmart as they are sold for solar landscape lights. These are lifepo4’s not the cadmium ones. From what I have read they are pretty stable. I do not think most people will go as far overboard as I have and I now have close to 8 kw worth of batteries. Lol. Walmart and Lowes carries the Duracell solar ones and it does not look like they are protected either. I have a buddy that paid $16 a piece for the same batteries for his ecig. I want to make a Tesla style pack. I hope I don’t blow myself up. Lol

the 3.7 are most likely li-co.
the most dangerous type.

what about gasoline?cars?firearms? idiots handle them everyday and a few pay the price fore carelessness.
i have no issues with li-ion or any of the abovementioned items.
and never an accident with them either.
we tolerate dangerous items because they are a benefit.we just have to work around the danger.

They are lifepo4 that means (Li) Lithium, (Fe) Iron, (PO) Posphate, not sure what the 4 is? So no not co.

Not to be a smart a$& but I have done more than a little research. I am an engineer and while not electrical I usually do not mess with things that are that dangerous. Well except gas, guns and cars ( oh and women the most dangerous and volitile things I have dealt with) as the last comment said. (well said btw)

Sorry but 3.7v are NOT lifep04!
While there were some at a few stores the cells we are talking about are most likely lico.
Without knowing what was rewrapped it will remain a mystery.
This is what sucks about any re wraps.

I still haven’t found these at any Wallys near me.

How do they test? Where in the stores are they found?

the 18500 are ok for non demanding applications.like replacing 3aaa in a cheap light.
have not tested the 18650.i suspect they will be the same.
good luck finding these anymore.look in the clearance aisle.

The two Wallmarts by me still have them but have been moved to the outdoor section of lawn&garden. The cheapest I have seem them is for 11$ a four pack, although others have seen them at 7$ a pack.

Eating crow isn’t quite so bad if you use a little buffalo sauce. I had bought some of the 3.2V early on which all said lifePO4. Wikipedia seems to agree with you. Most of the batteries say made 2015 10G I assume October? I have welded a few of them. No fires yet.

For the guy that just posted they are in the lawn and garden clearance section with the solar lights most of them are already gone by now.

lifepo4 are the safe ones. 3.2v
those were all gone so i didnt get any.but i got a bunch of the 3.7 18500.
even though lico are the more dangerous chemistry it still takes a gross error to set them off.

I was able to pick up a few of the Westinghouse 3.7v 2kmAh 18650s from Walmart on the cheap in the clearance isle.

Was anyone able to determine the performance of these and/or confirm their chemistry/brand?

i didnt get any of the 18650.
but i do have test gear.if someone were to mail me one or two i can test.would esp be interesting to see i.r.
they went from full price to gone at my local store.was not concerned as i have a free source of common 18650 so not much effort was expended getting any.
if they are same mfr as the 18500 they are standard low drain laptop grade cells.but testing may reveal different.
the 18500 so far are good.

I would be willing to ship you 2, no problem.
Send me your info via PM. Thanks!

for the other members benefit these are now undergoing testing here
they take a few cycles to get going but are very close to 2000mah at 1a.
next i will test a broke in cell at 2a.

Hey all this years batch of batteries is out at Walmart in the garden center they are around $14 right now. Good luck!!!

My Walmart has two kinds the 2000mhz ones lol for $11 and 2000 mah ones for $14 both made by Westinghouse. But on the two packages the actual manufacturer is different for each set of batteries. I bought some of the $11 ones. 3 tested at 2000-2100 at 1amp 1 only tested 1500 after ,3 more cycles only 1744. Manufacturer date 10/2015 the $14 are made 10g/2016

The phone numbers and addresses are different on each package of batteries. I took a picture of both of them. They also have 2000mah nihm batteries doesn’t say anything about LSD probably wouldn’t be for solar lights since they are charged daily. And 500mah aa batteries

Have seen these 18650’s at my local Wally World for like the past 8 months always at full price! Had about 24 or so packs in the beginning, in all that time they probably only sold a couple since they actually were collecting dust! Finally seen them on clearance for $7 a four pack. Bought a pack and so far works fine in my Olight S30 and an SK98 I had nearby…

Just charged em up and started using one, so haven’t tested run times, cut-outs or anything, but will report back after I test them in my other lights.

But on clearance at less than 2 bucks a cell, seems decent to pick up a pack or two if you don’t have a lot of 18650’s.

the ones i tested needed a few cycles to wake up then were close to 2000mah at 1a.
if you need cheap these are ok at the clearance prices.
not a good value at full price.
considering i have bought 25r at 3.50 ea on sale.
