The following problem has been really bad today.
When I click on threads and then wait a while for the thread to register as “Read”, it can take five minutes or longer for it to register.
Check out the blue dot on the far right of this image, which indicates that the thread is “Unread.”

I took this screenshot several minutes after opening the thread.
I’m using the Brave browser and Windows 11.
My browser and my OS have not been updated recently.
I don’t have that issue with Brave on Android.
I have seen a similar problem here today. Chrome Win 11. I haven’t timed it. But after having viewed all posts in the thread and going back to the unread category, the threads remain unread for minutes.
BTW, things seem to be OK now… Maybe just a transient issue.
Ok, glad it wasn’t just me! Thought I was going a little looney.
Yep, same here.
Hopefully it was just a short-termed hiccup. ![]()
EDIT:
It’s taking quite a while for my post (this post) to register as read, so the problem is still around.
…
By the way, I don’t really like the “feature” of having to wait for a thread to register as read.
I know that sb doesn’t like to tweak Discourse unless he really has to–partly because anytime he needs to update the forum software, he might have to re-tweak Discourse again.
Hi there, nothing has changed on the server side either, but it looks like the site has been under higher than normal load today, probably from a bot and/or scraper. I think that could possibly affect the response time for registering threads as readed [sic]. (I hate English sometimes.)
I’m not sure if this is related or not, but you might want to look at these options too:

The other site was suffering from severe clock desync last week/a couple weeks ago. Could something like that cause the notifs and statuses to be desynced as well?
The previous problem has been happening again today, but I have a much larger problem now.
Lately on BLF, I frequently cannot edit my posts, so instead I delete my post and create a new post with the edited text.
When I say that I cannot edit my posts, it looks like I can edit my posts, but once I try to save my post, the post has not been edited. ![]()
EDIT:
Nevermind.
After editing my post, if I refresh the page, the edit works, but I do have to refresh the page (sometimes.) ![]()
I have seen the same behavior. It is intermittent. I also notice that the page will show I have drafts in the my post category, but clicking on it shows that there are not any.
Most of the time a few page refreshes will clear it. But sometime I have to close the browser and come back to get things synced.
It is not a huge deal, now that I have figured it out. But, it is a behavior that is not something that happened prior to the last couple of weeks.
