I like the size, look, rear button, and battery of the Ultrafire F13. Are there any other manufactures with that body/copy or similar? $20-$35
I am looking for a rear button, 26650 battery, clean edc style, bright and affordable. I like the Kaidomain K5s specs all around, but I would have a slimmer head like the same size as the tube.
Or recommendations
Thanks.
Check this thread : Brief Overview of Kaidomain KDIY K5s
Also, seek in Kaidomain, I guess they have similar lights (in terms of host)!
The Trustfire A8 looks to be my answer. Does anyone have experience with the A8? Likes Dislikes
I just bought an Ultrafire F13 the other day from Fasttech to mod.
Stock its okay comes with a XML2 and it appears to be real. I stuck my finger on the dome just to be sure it feels real lol i have found the fake XML2 have a hard dome.
The driver is the usual resistor setup you find on these cheaper lights.
It fits a 20mm MCPCB and a 22mm driver.
What are you after? 1000 lumens?
Not many rear button 26650s around. Trustfire A8 (review) aka Ultrafire LZZ F15 (review, Quad mod).
Seems like all Shadow JM20 and JM07 clones are gone. This thread may be interesting anyway.
.
If you wanna try side button: slim Sofirn SP33 , heavy duty Convoy BD06.
What were the threads like?
How do i explain this lol.
They are good? Cut well so no grinding or mismatching on mine and smooth i did lube them.
At the same time they are thin but there are so many threads it shouldn’t be an issue.
It takes 13 turns to undo the tail cap compared to 4 turns on a C8 lol i guess the battery tube is twice as big.
Damned fine host, easy to mod.
The F13 is a nice light, takes a 26650, is nice and beefy, could run some decent power and still stay relatively cool. The UI, though, was rather annoying. H/M/L plus blinkies… yecch. Dis-co-nnect! So, rather than suffering in silence, I figure I’d share my modding misery.Anyway, I was doing this already, didn’t want to stop (inertia, and all that), so just grabbed some Truly Crappy cellphone pix while I was already in-progress. Start with a standard F13 ( http://www.gearbest.com/le…
Beefy enough to handle some decent heat, too.
I don’t have an A8, but from the listings I’ve looked at, the “Yupard” version looks like they cut some corners.
I’m interested to hear what other people suggest.
F13 are well priced and easy to mod. Here’s mine
I got my some of my lights back from getting them cerakoted by n10sivern. Here’s the Ultrafire F13 in sniper grey, triple xpl-hi 5000k v2 70cri, 22mm bistro otsm driver (thanks Lexel), kiriba-ru copper triple spacer, kaidomain triple reflector and orange/yellow tail light switch. ![image] ! ![image] ! ![image] !

What did you mod today? - #3329 by vinte77
I am on the road to do something like this
Well at least I hope so
My F13 should be here this week…
Thanks for your post, It gives me ideas… And all others too!
For the price I will probably pick up the A8, B06, and (2) F13’s (one left stock and one to mod with a xhp35).
Thanks for all the Advice and comments.
I might pick up an F13… seems like a great affordable light.

I love the F13… as a host.
Out of the box, it kinda stinks. Cheap minimally regulated driver, crappy annoying UI, probably an undersized LB emitter. New driver and new emitter, and it’ll kick arse.
Using the F13 as a host for a beginner, what would be the ideal and exact parts that the F13 could handle in say a XHP35.2(35) or 50.2(50) or better, like from Kaidomain. As little work as possible the better.
LED on star, and wires on board. So pull the old, add paste, solder, push star down stuff wires in and solder board in. Correct?
This would be my first flashlight mod.
Thanks.
This is more or less the original. Review: Shadow JM07 Pro "Stone White" Limited Edition

It doesn’t sound like you want this for a modding host, how important is the tail switch?
This one looks like it meets your other requirements besides the tail switch, including the price ($23.71)
EDIT: (TBone already suggested above, but here’s a nice photo anyway!)

OK I must have missed this post. This host might be interesting.

Right now I am not able to reply to individual posts so.
Beam0, I do need the rear tail button since the light will be in my pocket exc and it will be less chance of turning on accidentally. The pic you link looks like the Trustfire A8 but with the side switch. I ordered the Trustfire A8 yesterday.
Thanks Beam0
Beam0, thanks for the KL-S26 link.
Thanks Again.
