30Q button top - new deal for Q8

Wow!
My banged up, dirty looking 30Qs which I bought from GB still managed to hit 29xx when I ran charged-discharged test on my Opus BT C3100

No need to feel too bad, $2.50 for ‘unwanted’ 30Q flat-tops isn’t really much to complain about.

About that capacity thing - did you cycle the cells a couple times first?

I need to get myself a Opus BT 3100

The review at http://lygte-info.dk/review/Review%20Charger%20Opus%20BT-C3100%20UK.html looks good.

Post #809 above I posted 2 of my 6 30Q BT's tested at 3030 mAh on the Opus. Guess I'll have to test the remaining four now. Dang - just ordered 4 more on Friday...

i will Neal point to this new findings….

Here you can find the test results of the capacity test HKJ did on the flat top version:

30Q flat top

The tests I did on mine are pretty the same.
I got no results on the button tops yet as I am still waiting for them.

I tested 2 of my 4 button tops INR-30Q received from BG with SKYRC MC3000 with refreshing modus C/D/C
Discharging with 0,5A from 4,2V to 2,8V shows this capacity:

#1: 2895 mAh
#2: 2946 mAh

This is almost the same as HKJ measued for flat top 30Q.

Imo the cells are original Samsung INR18650-30Q.

Tested two accidentally sent flat tops. The other one is better, but neither are far off from HKJ’s measurements. 1,0 A discharge.

#1
3,0 V 2682 mAh 9,8 Wh
2,8 V 2812 mAh 10,18 Wh
2,5 V 2909 mAh 10,43 Wh
#2
3,0 V 2777 mAh 10,17 Wh
2,8 V 2905 mAh 10,54 Wh
2,5 V 3002 mAh 10,80 Wh

Samsung specs these as 3040 mAh and 11 Wh down to 2,5 volts at 600 mA (0,2C). I’d say close enough.

Ordered button tops Jan 22 2016 received 4 flat tops
Discharge test with Opus BT-C3100 @700mA
3043mAh
2944mAh
2903mAh
3025mAh

4 button tops received today.

Finally received my originally ordered button tops today. This concludes my transaction. phew, took a while! I now have 30q’s all over the place lol.

edit just ran a discharge test on one of the flat tops on my hobby charger at 1A down to 2.5v - 2672mah WTF. I give up. That’s it for BG now, never again.

1. 2672 mah
2. 2681 mah
3. 2640 mah
4. 2662 mah

edit

  1. Panasonic ncr18650a (3100mah), two years old but only been charged maybe 4-5 times = 2622mah…. hmm, maybe it is my charger giving bad discharge results. I’m going to test again on my old hobby charger. It tested very close to 3100mah when I tested with my old charger when I got them. Will update again after I have done that.

I finally got 6 of these button tops. They came quickly once they finally shipped.
All of them measured very close to 3000mAH on an OPUS BT-C3100.

sorry for the (silly) question… :frowning:
did you fully charge before the discharge test?
which charger did you use?

Finally my button tops (all of them) arrived today. Well packed. Good voltage. So this story seems to come to a satisfying end for me now.
I will do some capacity testing the next days and will report.

The discharge tests on the flat tops I did pretty much matched with the test HKJ did. So I am kind of puzzled about your result.

HKJ discharged 2884 mAh at 1 A discharge current. The difference to 2672 mAh is some 7% . HKJ has calibrated his equipment and works with four-terminal sensing.

With uncalibrated home equipment even 10% deviation (and more) aren’t unusual.

Received my four button tops today. Curious why two of the stock number stickers were marked “No test”. Will do charge/discharge tests this evening.

Yes fully charged before test on Xtar VP4 @0.5A, left for 20mins after charge. 4.19v at that time on multimeter. Discharged on new accucel 6 (80w) on Nimh discharge setting so I could set the cut-off voltage of 2.5v and discharge current of 1A. (you can’t set cutoff voltage on lipo discharge mode).

Just did second one from first batch of four – 2681 mah.

I will test the other two from my first batch of four and then will test a panasonic ncr18650a (3100mah) to check it’s not the charger.

Will keep updating previous post with results.

Almost tempted to buy an Opus BT-C3100 v2.2 so I can run discharge on 4 at a time, annoying having to do 1 at a time but I think these batts have cost me enough already lol. I have 16 of these in total now. 8x flat top and 8x button top.

After discharge I am using the accucel to recharge to storage voltage.

Will I see any noticeable difference in brightness when using a XP-L HI with a FET driver as compared to a NCR18650GA???

Thanks!
AlexGT

Finally my six button tops arrived today. Hallelujah!
