If you don't see the difference between the XTAR and a random crap so-called Q5 (probably worse) noname flashlight with a fire hazard charger and an unprotected crap 18650 off ebay then the offer isn't for you anyway.
You're comparing an Ultrafire 501A with a quality IPX-8 Type III HA host with silver plated contacts? Really? Are you kidding me?
That the XTAR is only $12 more than the junky noname light makes the XTAR a fantastic offer.
Xtar is selling this rechargeable flashlight for such a good price without the batt.
you can just pop in your 18650 batt into it or just get a few couple of 2.6mAh 18700 sanyo batt from Xtar too. i believe Miles Cheng (sales manager) will give you a good price on their batt.
I have read about this light before, but completely forgot about it the second I saw the pricetag... but now, it is just at the threshold where I can risk buying it being hed up by customs (which isn't only more expensive but also takes ages).
HUGE plus for this light (in my opinion): not only does it have built in charging capabilities (which is at least nice to have), but you can customize the driver! There are solder tabs for each mode except High, and if you make the connection with a small blob of solder that mode is gone. This can be reversed by removing the solder. So I can get rid of the blinky modes without changing the driver.
Mode memory works, it's truly a nicely made flashlight. you can disable any mode you like by soldering a contact under the flashlight head. Reverse clicky and yes HA coted. If anythigg the box is a bit cheesy the rest is A+.
From the two xtar lights in my custody just now - the name is worth a bit of extra money.
The lights are well-made and nice. Very nice. Both the Xtar lights living with me have spent a month sharing my pockets with keys, coins and the like. I can't see any damage to the anodising.
For me, they're worth the fairly small amount of extra money.
