I have been waiting for these to come out, for months now. In case anyone is interested, these 4AA holders are $0.99 each and if more than ten are purchased, the price goes down to $0.60 each. Shipping does apply, but still, they are dirt cheap from CNQG.
I will use them as the base for some my mods this fall. Just change the cheap tin to copper and away we go.
Just thought some of you modders might like a few. It’s easier to mod these, than to try to make them myself and it’s cheaper than to buy the plastic rod stock to make them.
EDIT: Maglite bodies would have to be bored to use these 4AA holders. They are for modders, or people who have bought bored out Maglite tubes, or any other light that would hold this carrier.
I didn’t see any specs . . . are these D sized or ?? Parallel or serial? 3D needs to bored to what size? I’ll probably want some and my son might also.
OK guys. I imagine they will get specs up soon, but here’s the deal. 4AA batteries don’t fit into a Maglite unless the light is bored.
Let me clarify that, by saying that between the variations in tube ID and the variations in battery OD, you might squeeze 4 of them in a Maglite, but for general purposes, it needs to be bored. It would need to be bored for this holder. I have tried one of these, that was in a shower head light, and it doesn’t quite fit without boring the Maglite tube.
These are for modders, who want to do that kind of thing, or for those who buy bored Maglite tubes from the modders who offer the service (cpf, for now, but probably here sooner or later…. I know, that ends up being about 4 people, LOL).
They are Series, not parallel, but if you rework them, you could make them whatever you want.
Well.. I do own a 4AA series holder and it fits in my 4D Maglite. It just doesnt fit with Eneloops. They have an OD of 14.22mm, but I have some cells with a diameter of 13.95-14.05mm. Those fit.
Are there any other stock lights that they’ll fit. Otherwise, how about the TK35 clone. Is there a battery holder available AT A REASONABLE PRICE for those?
