Apart from a wonky tailstand this EDC takes some beating.
I have the same light as yours, i.e. 219C emitters but I did not opt for the extension tubes.
It’s a great light, just that the beam profile for the RGB have some shadowy lines for short distance lighting, unlike the clean floody beam from the main emitters
what am i missing?
Mode Stepping: Low → Strobe →SOS → High
—low to strobe? how is that not super annoying??

Switch: Tail, Rotary Twist
==a twist switch.>? how is that not slow and annoying?

I’m following this thread to find out how this light could possibly be the best 18350 light yet. The suspense is killing me.
yeah that was kind of my point too
though it does have colored aux lights
who is the person claiming that?

I own this light and it doesn’t work that way. Ring has 5 detentes in the following order: Low —> Medium —> High —> Colored aux LEDs —> strobes
Some people like this interface. You can set the ring to your favorite position and forget about it. Thereafter, turning it on is a simple matter of pressing the tailswitch button which is very fast.
What I like about this light:
- best tint of any triple I own. Truly excellent choice of main emitters.
- attractive looking flashlight.
What I don’t like:
- No real low mode. “low” is something like 80 lumens. It’s far too high for many situations. Jetbeam really dropped the ball on that. A better option would have been to remove the medium detente and make the space on the ring between low and medium infinitely variable.
- Colored blinky modes beam pattern is useless for anything other than partying or maybe using as a warning light while walking around.
- Forward clicky might turn on if slightly depressed in the pocket. This could end up accidentally draining the battery. Especially since there isn’t a real low mode.
another thing i would hate
the light levels are not useful
i have another jetbeam with the same thing
low is about 20, too high
the next is 150 or so, too big a jump
and then 800, which lasts about 30 sec
would rather have 5 or 6 evenly spaced levels, starting at about 1 lumen - like say anduril does
1 3 10 30 100 300 1000
something like that

> best 18350 light yet?
definite NO
3 modes, the lowest being 80 lumens…
not my cup of tea
I guess that this is just a matter of opinion.
In my opinion, this is not the grail 18350 light even though the same company made the grail light.
They also made one with a similar UI to this one, a TCR-10.
For a tail switch grail light similar to this but with infinite variable brightness, another company made it (SWM) with a 16340 but could be bored to except 18350.
This is all just a matter of opinion but I think a lot of members would agree.
The TCR-1 and Sunwayman V10 Ti are still highly sought after lights and treasured by those who are lucky enough to own them.
Agreed. In my opinion, this is not the “grail: 18350 light.
I rate this is a “near miss” in terms of making a great light. Simply changing the UI to make the main LED infinitely variable while keeping all other features as-is would have made it a great a light.
Would that have made it the best 18350 light? … I don’t think so. It’s still a bit big for an 18350 light. But those changes would have been enough to turn what is now a decent light into a very good light.
What I’d like to see:
A button-less TCR-1 with the triple emitters from the RRT-03, and aux colored LED emitters accessible via hidden series of movements (like how to access strobe in the RRT-01).
agree, a missed opportunity
I feel you understand deeply
stepless ramping to sublumen levels,
would have made the light viable for indoor use,
even nightstand use,
making it a true 24/7 EDC,
instead of just a driveway flooder.
brilliant synthesis
Anduril in a TCR-1 triple
The Force is Strong with This One

I definitely agree with you on the things that you don’t like above.
They should include a moonlight mode to make it a more useful bedside light as the 80 lumens is just too bright for bedtime purposes.
The RGB beam patterns with shadowy lines are just plain irritating for close-up applications
I would also prefer for the length to be shorter as this light is just slightly shorter than FW3A which uses 18650 battery
