I'm going to see if I can find what LED is used in this. Will update....
EDIT: Apparently it's the same CREE XP-E used in the new 2D/3D Maglite: http://www.batteryjunction.com/rayovac-rnr2d-b.html. I guess this makes sense... since it basically is one.
EDIT: duh... says it on the packaging (picture added)
Just got two of these on sale for 9 bucks each and have to say for 9 bucks its a pretty sweet light. Big floody beam that is bright and white. Has two modes and pretty solid construction. The palstic head feels a bit cheap, especially when using the "adjustable head which is a bit of a joke really, but overall great for teh price. I looked in the head and the led seems to surprisingly well heatsinked, has a nice big metal heatisnk in there. Also has two modes and uses D batteries which I kinda like having. The battery spring is nice and stury and the switch feels sturdy. Only real complaint is that the optic isnt great and the beam is rather ringy. You can still snag it right now for 8.73 I believe, from a major online retailer that I won't mention, and I definitely reccomend it!
It doesn't give you prime shipping, but at the moment you can still get this price at Amazon's subsidiary Amazonsupply (which used to be smallparts.com).
