Thanks for the give away and luck to all…

Thanks Wheeler and RMM for the giveaway and congratz on 7k posts!
First mod ever… 90cri 2700K XP-G3 into my astrolux S1. Loving the tint. (note the awful solder job, but hey, it’s my first and it works):

EDIT: Also yes, I’m addicted now… ordering drivers now.

Congratulations ImA4Wheelr! very nice idea for a giveaway.

That is a beautiful light blue. Please tell me how you did that.
(Also, please tell me it is super easy and even i can do it  I have never done a mod before but i want to)

I’ll post a mod I did recently because it’s a good example of how this hobby has progressed for me. Seeing the work done by the community, realizing what mods are possible to improve my lights, then learning the skills to do them. All made possible by this community of modders.

I put an e-switch in the tail cap of a light so I could get just the right UI.

Thanks for the chance and helping make this community what it is. Thanks also to RMM. For now I’ll link the P718T Chimera

Thank you ImA4Wheelr, love your mods and reviews, keep them coming.
I’m entering this giveaway with my newest build - Warsun X50 Warsun X50 Mod - a complete makeover (Beamshots added).

Great giveaway. Thanks for the opportunity.

Here my headlight mod thread I made back in 2012. Ive put pics of my more recent headlight mods in there also.

Edit: included a link to the mod thread

Not a big upgrade but the results were impressive for such a cheap torch.
Bought it from this thread

[sold out] SKY RAY 6 x Cree XM-L2 T6 3-Mode Cool White Light Flashlight - Black (4 x 18650) US$ 25,76 free shipping @ DX

From Dx which eventually landed after a bit of waiting, I swapped the FET for one from MTN which basically doubled its output then I removed the MCPCB and de-domed all the LED’s in one go which improved the throw a lot and warmed up the cool LED’s

Only downside is the driver which would be nice to replace it only as bright or very bright as modes at a guess 4000 lumens on full and 2000 on low, it’s low is now better than before had as it’s max. Also low has audible whine so it’s always used on full now.

I am not a huge modder and this is the first time I am sharing this mini mod. Built a 219C triple S2+ and used coins/solder to create the spacer. By far the most time consuming mod I have done to date.

Thank you for the contest and huge thanks to RMM as well.

the latest mod i’ve done/posted on the forum

I’m in!

Here is a mod I made a while back, still have it and like it a lot.

Modded JKK-13 USB flashlight, now has an XPL-HI V3

I’ve done mods but haven’t posted because they are simply not as neat or spectacular as most of what’s posted here. Yesterday, I cut the head of a VG10 short and put a triple, seoul, z power LED star inside mostly because these LEDs, though low luminesence, has the best tint I’ve ever seen! (and they were the only triples I havee, lol) Tools used, file, hacksaw, knife, wire cutter. YES, it was a PITA to do with hand tools and there’s a blister to show for it! lol. Driver is an RMM, FET+1. No current measurements taken as yet. ( I still have to put epoxy around the colimator to make it waterproof.)

A couple after pics:

(Only mod posted a long time ago is a convoy S3 converted to a headlamp: EDC/Convoy S3 headlamp (MOD))

Congratulations on the 7000 true flashoholic posts, ImA4Wheelr!

A mod that required a lot of fixing before it finally turned out right, a Solarstorm SC02 modded with DrJones RGBW driver, colour XP-E2’s and a Nichia 219A high CRI:

Mr. 7000!

That’s more posts than I have lights

After joining BLF, this is the first light I modded. Originally it was Black and had a CREE X-PE. Ran on 3 - AAA cells and for it’s size it threw pretty good. What I did was strip off the Black anodizing and I tried to re-anodize and stain it Purple. After many attempts I just couldn’t get all 3 pieces the same shade of purple. So I settled on just anodizing the center tube and I buffed the tailcap and head. I also upgraded it to an XM-L, Direct Drive and used some copper pennies for a heat sink. Later I converted it to run on a single 18500 Li-ion. Back then, it never occurred to me to post my efforts.
Like I mentioned, my very first LED mod.

Congratulations on surviving BLF for so long without going Bankrupt! :stuck_out_tongue:

Thank you for the GAW and MtnE for contributing.
I have learned from you and many others on here.

And to highlight Richards work here is a VG10 built with his parts and his reflowed Tpad Quad with XP-L HI V3 3C and New Fet+1 on Bistro.

Congrats on the 7000 4wheeler.

$$$ toward RMM is an awesome giveaway! I think I’ll enter!

So I’ll mention my DIY triple spacer mod I coincidentally posted here TWO YEARS AGO TODAY!

Using a 3/4” brass PEX plug from Lowes, I was able to successfully make spacers for my triple builds. This has worked very well, as I have built three triples using this same $2.19 plumbing piece:

1. A triple 2.8A regulated high-CRI Nichia 219b in a Convoy S2
2. A triple 2.8A regulated XM-L2 in a Convoy S3
3. A triple FET-Driven XP-L HI in a Convoy S6

…and they have all worked great using this technique.

…via Convenient budget spacer for Triple EDC found... @ Lowe's!

Shameless bump. Surely more folks have posted (or will post) mods and are RMM Mountain Electronics fans.

Really great posts folks. Thank you for joining the GAW.
