8 AA batteries tested.

Not really a valid test because it doesn’t account for differences in the load. I sure the cheap fans could vary a goodly amount in efficiency converting energy to air movement.
But it’s still a real world test - interesting non the less.
Unfortunately there is no way to know which brands are less likely to leak.
And as we know - seems like all of them pick the most expensive or most inconvenient time to puke their guts out.

Project Farm also had an alkaline AA showdown.

The short run of the fan on the energizer lithium is because its voltage was higher throughout the discharge and current was higher.
However the flashlights boost converter draws less with the higher voltage.
