8 bay 18650/26650/32650 charger

autopsy complete on power supply.
cause of death was a resistor leaning too close to the switcher fet heatsink.
killed 2 diodes in the bridge and blew the fuse.
its working now.
the real surprise was instead of the usual cheap dangerous crap instead i was greeted by a decent design.
line filter,proper x and y caps,proper fuse.
if one were to send one of these to ul,csa, ect it would pass.
i need to look at the line cord for wire gauge though.
it might be too thin to carry 15a if a short occurred.it has to be able to carry the whole 15a long enough to trip the breaker if a short occurred.
i have seen the results of bad pc power cords.
seen one with #20 wire get plugged into a shorted power supply and it caught fire.
teardown of charger next and lots of pics coming.

Thanks for your job . Waiting for the pics.

i will try to get pics done over the weekend.
so far this unit is working fine as a charger.it is being used every day now and if there are any durability issues they should show up.
i still need to try some grease on the slides as they are still sticking mainly when inserting cells one handed.
if one pulls the slide close to the bottom they do not bind.

tore it down.
a sore spot mentioned in HKJ review was the usb 5v shorting through.
might have been a one off failure as the techcode td1507t5 specs a shutdown function that should have prevented this.
datasheet
i will order a few spares and recreate the test.if mine shorts through i will recommend a 6.2v 5w zener across usb +5 to protect the load.
the good news is 8 individual channels with seperate buck converters and easy to mod current sense!
looks as if this one can easily be customised for higher or lower current.
mod recipie coming soon.
bad news is the numbers have been sanded off the 2 main ic’s.
will reverse engineer and post that too.
copycats trying to prevent copies of their copy?

I wonder if a dry Teflon lube would be better than oil on those sticky sliders? Dust and others nasties might gum things up with a wet lube?

Radio shack lube gel(rebadged superlube) did well on it.
made a big improvement.
collecting crud over time is a real concern.
