Sorry, link fixed. I hope it still works.
It does, tnx for the tip, now I’m just thinking if I should go for the one with more LEDs as most of the dives are done in mediterranean sea where we don’t have such great light conditions as in Carribean
I do believe that the 6x9090 LED model produces more light ( they claim 500W, probably less but very bright)
The light you were referring in your first post have 15 smaller LEDs but they rate these (120-180W equivalent) which would mean a lot less light produced. The 9090 LEDs are some of the most powerful out there.
The model with six 9090s have burning time 45min at full brightness with good Panasonic batteries.
With three modes you can easily adjust desired brightness and on low batteries will last more than 80 min.
That is what I wanted to hear. Thank you
See this Scubaboard thread for more information on these lights - ‘Cheap Chinese Video Light’
A chap reviews the differences between the A11, A15, A10
I have the A15 and find it very good. From the other posts in the thread though I am wary about the clicky switches failing after more than a few dives.
As I posted in that thread, has anyone had any experience with the new type popping up now? COB Led versions
Only ~£30 i’m tempted to pick one up.
4 x 18650 as per the others, looks to be the same chassis just with a different led.
The LED is a COB type - can’t find any information as to which one.
Im curious to see if this is more powerful / has a different beam profile to the 15 x XML-2 variants
EDIT: I have started a new topic on these COB lights here
Hi RokSiEu,
as I mentioned on ScubaBoard, these lamps come with different names, check this: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33011130681.html
Between QH15, and QH14-7, the more powerful is QH14-7 (also pictured in post #8), and QH15 has a warmer tone. My tip would be to buy 2 and mount them on a plate on bendable arms, or not fully screwed in, thus have them able to turn.
On Amazon (.de or .fr), QH15 is below 40 EUR. Cheapest is the QH18 variant: Amazon.fr . (BTW, Chinese prices on 1688.com for almost all these lamps are like 10EUR /lamp, but you have to buy quantities (10 was too little from one supplier, although they advertised you could buy at least 2; it seemed they wanted to test me, so I gave up). You could buy 2 of these, and be below 60 EUR; for the total ~10K lumen underwater, it’s unbeatable.
On my YT channel (subscribe! ;-)) you can see how the QH15 (on the left) and the QH14-7 (on the right) look underwater:
2019.07.05 - Egypt - Hurghada - Gota Abu Ramada D2 - YouTube , with a simple go through all modes of use (and with white light + red)
2019.07.06 - Egypt - Hurghada - El Fanadir North D2 - YouTube , you can clearly see the difference in light temperature on the sand, without filter
2019.07.06 - Egypt - Hurghada - El Fanadir North D2 - YouTube , same video, with Backscatter “Dive” Red filter, QH14-7, since it’s cooler, the red filter doesn’t make the image too yellow, and you can use with the filter to get more colors in the background /more distant).
2019.07.05 - Egypt - Hurghada - Gota Abu Ramada D2 - YouTube , here you can see, the Red and Blue Leds in action (with and without the “Dive” red filter).
But all the QH series need a better driver; the lights flicker when being used at 50% and 25% power settings : 2019.07.06 - Egypt - Hurghada - El Fanadir South D1 - YouTube , flickering at 13:35.
In almost every video in the “Hurghada 2019” playlist I used usually the QH15 and QH14-7, but also the QH18 in the first 2-3 days (forgot to write down which was which), so pick any video, and go through the playbar until you find something interesting to see, and make a choice.
I actually think it’s somehow the same base-design as the BLF Q8. Maybe we could change the driver and make them much more powerful. A mod for the buttons, like unscrewing, gluing some additional membrane, and screwing back on wouldn’t be inconceivable.
Lexel, since you started the BLF Q8 thread, would you be interested in taking a look at these? Either by aquiring one, or having one sent to you by one of us? Maybe Mieciu and Rec diver, who’ve had broken lamps could disassemble theirs and post some pictures?
What do you people think?
I’ve just received my light from amazon.de , expencier than other sites but 1 year warrenty is worth it.
I hope I’ll try it next week in Croatian sea.
Are you using gopro? Which macro addon? Which holder?
Regarding mods, let me know if I can help!
I am using GoPro 7 Black with the Backscatter Flip 7 Kit. It does it’s job nicely, but I wish I would have searched more before, it has some design flaws, which you discover in use, and there are cheaper similar versions available.
