A big thank you to the members here for freely sharing all their knowledge and experience, without which I could not have done the two mods that I have just successfully done.
First time I have done a reflow, and did two at the same time XM-L2 T6’s onto Sinkpads, worked great
Put one into a SS ZY T08, resisters shorted already, 5.2A at the tail, this is the reason I needed copper, the XM-L U2 on aluminium that was in there is a very sick yellow now.
Then put the other in a UltraFire F10, soldered two r220 resistors on the top of the existing sensor resistors, 1.8A at the tail, 3s1p so the equivelent of 5.4A at the tail.
Both worked first time I will give them both a 15 minute test on high when I go for my evening walk tonight.
One thing puzzles me, got both leds in the same order, one is a nice neutral white, the other is a warm white :Sp you would think they would both be the same being picked at the same time.
Again a big thank you for making it possible for me to have that nice warm feeling of a job well done twice in one day.
@ freeme, no resistors, I put a bit of wire across the resistors, shorting them out, I do not expect the driver to last to long, but I have had my fun with it, when it goes I will mod it from 1s2p to 2s1p and try to gain a bit more lumins
Back from my walk, used the UltraFire F10 with Samsung 3000mah first, got comfortably warm after 10min and no hotter after 20min, ambient about 17c with a decent breeze, still 1.8A at the tail when I got home, so 20min rest.
The T08, with Pano 2800mah, as expected lost a fair bit of power in the first few minutes, it got a bit warm for the first 5~6min then started to cool down to just about ambient after 10min still there after another 10min, 3.57A at the tail when I got back, so a lot of room for improvement, when the finance minister loosens the purse strings it gets modded to serial and 6A J)
