Well obviously the ideal is a middle ground between 4000K and 5000K
Too bad the 4500K 519A is out of stock everywhere now…
I think it would be most fitting if the main LED was the Nichia 519A in 4000K for that special edition of Sofirn SR23.
My reasoning behind that preference:
-
The light of the Nichia 519A 4000K is fine, it would be a clear upgrade vs. the cold standard LED of the SR23 in terms of light quality.
-
Also 4000K is not extremely warm like 2700K and below or quite cold like 5700K and above.
-
There are so many Wurkkos, Sofirn, Acebeam and others flying around with Nichia 519A 5000K LED, whereas the 4000K variant is rare in comparison.
All in all the Nichia 519A 4000K would be a solid choice: a special LED for a special flashlight!
I recommended to use HSXLED high CRI emitter with slightly rosy tint but Sofirn refused to use these since they have never been used in any of their lights…
I agree. ![]()
That’s the truth Dominic. ![]()
Thanks for sharing. I’m interested in it.
My CCT preference seems to be opposite to the majority, based on the experience will all those CCTs discussed.
It would be my “tool light”, so I will be expecting it to letting me see how things are, in daylight and UV. Therefore, I vote for:
- 5700K best
- 5000K acceptable
- 4000K too warm, not neutral enough (I won’t buy it)
Fun fact: I have modded ST10 with 519a 4500K as the spot emitter (due to presence of the Moonlight) and 5700K as a flood emitter. I’m very happy with this configuration.
How does that silicone handle hold up long-term? I’ve had rubberized coatings on a few things, and after a while they started breaking down/crumbing and turned into this sticky, nasty mess.
I love the idea of violet and black. Sounds like a great color combo.
Count me in for one. CCT doesn’t really matter to me.
Yeah that would be a big no-go.
But i trust Sofirn to not mix too much chemical softener to their rubber.
Count me in for one, please. And another vote for the 4000K emitter. I have so many lights above 4000K, I need to “warm up” the collection.
I’m in for a 4000k option with filtered UV.
4000k is about as warm as I’ll go for work where I use UV so it would be perfect, I’d probably get 2.
Interested if 4000k
HSXLED is Hopthink, right? So does that mean it’s basically an emitter like FFL and NTG LEDs? That would be awesome and even better than 519A.
How about an additionally non-magnetic tailcap like with the golden WK03? ![]()
I am in for one, thanks
It looks to me that most of us want the 4000K-Version of the 519A.
So I’ll post a new thread soon (I think in 2 or 3 days) with the question “Who is interested in…”…then we’ll need the counts for Evan from Sofirn. ![]()
Sorry I forgot another detail…I think a “Glow-in-the-dark”-O-Ring under the glass lens would be nice to have. ![]()
Count me in as well for 4000k and UV/Filter
@AccurateJazz - the silicon handle looks resistant and stabile.
But I think with the time it will be damaged, dry, is getting cracks and so on.
But in this case it gives Heat shrink tubing for cables as replacement. ![]()
I would like to purchase one. Thank you
