Acebeam P16 Defender. Layman Impressions.

The substitute for my beloved M2R is here.
(I thought “Defender” was patented by Surefire.
I have more than 10 different Surefire models that say “Defender”.)
Anyway, this light is that good.
And boy, does it throw. Also has a wide angle for a thrower.
20 or 25 degrees. I’ll leave that calculation to the technical savvy.
It takes flattop batteries like if it was made for them.

Two options: Tactical and Normal. Tactical is how the light comes.
Normal means that Strobe is substituted by SOS.
The round bottom turns on-off the light. The other changes the modes.
Only 4 modes, low, med, high and turbo, like a thrower should be.
In Normal mode, the rear switch turns the low light On or Off instantly.
In Tactical mode, it does Strobe.
Like everything nowadays, it’s complicated. But at least is not Anduril.
But I liked it enough to read instructions.

My only complaint is the 6500k. Too white for me.
If it would have been green light, like my L17, I would have paid twice the price.
I don’t lose hope of a green light P16. Acebeam has made it in many other lights.

I don’t do pics or measurements. But I know a good light when I see one.

Cheers.

Thanks for the review.

If this flashlight used a 21700 instead of an 18650, I'd be more interested.

Hi racoon city,

Thank you for your reply.

In your case, check the P17. You give but a few meters in throw. 484 VS 445.
but you get a lot more light. 4900 lumens instead of 1800.
It looks more like an Acebeam than this one, because of the head configuration.
This one looks more like a Surefire.

I only carry keychain lights. RovyVon mainly. In my neck and my keychain.
If I go to a party, also the Imalent LD70, just to impress people.
The RovyVon Angel Eyes if I go far. Very comfortable in my back pocket.

This light was what I needed for when I travel. Also the EC65. With 18650s.
I vape, and use Sony VTC6 in the small mods.
So I only take one type of battery.
That is the beauty with the M2R. And that it has neutral light.

My next light would be the E70 mini. With Nichias.
It could be a good carry light for me. Only I don’t carry.

I spent the last year buying Olights. The previous year, Imalents.
This year will be Acebeams again. Mine need some refreshing.
And a couple of Surefires, of course.
I try to limit myself to one light per month.
But it’s hard. Specially with the Olights. I bought 19.
None better than the combination my M2R offers.

In any event, that’s the reason for the 18650.

Cheers.

Thanks! The light effect creates attraction.

Disappointed that Acebeam moved from constant frequency to alternating frequency strobes.

Thank you for your reply dacejij.

Although I don’t understand it too well, I’m honored that you
decided to post your 1st in my thread. Welcome to the forum!!!.

Cheers.

Hi stephenk,

Thank you for your reply.

I’m totally alien to strobes. I don’t use them.

Yes, I see some are different, but they are all the same to me.
A hindrance. Strobes are not my 1st line of defense. Or my last.

I’m sorry that you’re disappointed.

Cheers.
