It's for a sound card that uses SOIC opamps, and I have a bunch of DIP opamps, and don't want to buy another new card just to get one that uses socketed DIPs. I see adapters that go the OTHER way, to put a SOIC chip where a DIP used to go, but never been able to find one that does the opposite. Does such a thing exist or am I going to have to run extension wires and glue a socket onto the board somewhere? xD
use long wires will cause some noise
you can solder DIP ic in SOIC footprint. to do that, bend DIP pins to match SOIC. but you have to use hot air gun for soldering or extend pin length by soldering short wires
Hi,
Will these work?
Jim
Gah. Yes, exactly that. Man, if you had any idea how many times I've searched, found hundreds of the opposite version, then given up... I'd swear I had even seen a page from that same site, but for the other style. Thanks!
No problem :)…
