Ali has some real bargains....

I’ve been into torches for just a little while and was looking to buy my first convoy. I got side tracked with these absolute bargains. Well, of course these things are second hand…

If I’m being honest, relatively speaking this first one looks reasonable if it really is zirconium Zirconium Boss

Superconductor Timeback

Holy (…) this skull clip is worth $$$ Boss with skull clip

Not sure where the design for these next three came from…

Not 100% sure what this “fingertip gyroscope” is exactly but it seems to fit with the above https://m.aliexpress.com/item/1005005481493975.htm

Well, if you would ask for my opinion: minus 50 points for Slytherin House.

Oh come on! Who doesn’t want to boast about paying +$1-2k on a fancy light emitting device…???

Maybe it’s just me, but “Second Hand Products” seems like terrible name for an over-priced glam brand.

$1,045.50 is a bargain for a room-temperature superconductor, tho.

lol…
How about a citadel clone for a budget price?

Geez clean your links up man have you no shame

2 Thanks

Even $70 is too much for an oversized 18350 light

Those edges look sharp enough to shave with. Suddenly the concept of using a light for self defense seems a little more viable

That’s why we’re called the BudgetLightForum .
I personally consider these to be “flashlight jewelery”.

@Cheule has a great video on this topic: https://youtu.be/jxU8b9COlVI

Yeah, really.
(You can delete all of the junk after “.html” in AliExpress links.) :+1:

Btw i didn’t actively go looking for these, once i looked at 1-2 the ali algorithm kept feeding them to me :person_facepalming:

I literally just had that exact one show up in the post yesterday!

Just select, delete. :scissors: It was a lot of url. That was for sure more than 2" of scrolling on mobile lol

Alright now I can see what they are and have an opinion. Imo, LEDs don’t last forever, the electronics don’t last forever. Stuff breaks. I look at those and think how expensive is a replacement part and how hard is it to replace.

In all honesty i don’t understand “just select delete”… maybe I’m getting too old for this digital crap nowadays :face_with_peeking_eye:

As far as outdated leds, that will always be a thing.

I don’t mean outdated, although that is a thing too, I just mean the general ability to repair/replace not just the LEDs but any of the components.

For anything over, idk, a few hundred bucks I definitely want a good warranty or at least the ability to pay for repairs or parts. Like, any tool from a major brand is going to have a warranty of a few years to life, and probably a service center or place to send it for repairs out of warranty.

If you consider it more like jewelery, well I mean Rolex has a warranty and service centers too. Ordinary jewelry can be repaired by independent places.

Is that true for all these custom flashlights? Idk. That would be my main concern.

Ahh, yes i understand now. Good point
