For the record, I only have these for home theater remotes
Enerleakers and Duraleaks are the worst of the bunch, other than throwaway no-name cells you get free with a burger or whatever.
I had the best luck with Rayovac. Unearthed a 40pak after well over a decade that I completely forgot about, and they were perfect: no leaks, still 1.5V-1.6V each, etc.
Equally good luck with green’n’black Rat Shack cells, not so much with the newer orange’n’white ones.
I think I’ve seen tests that show the cheaper brands like Rayovac have shorter service lives. Maybe the differences which lead to bad storage viability also lead to better performance/capacity.
Battburger?..
I used to say something like, “I only use Alkaleaks in things that I don’t care about.”
Now I don’t use Alkaleaks in anything.
There was some dealy at… think it was Strauss (auto parts) where you buy one of those cheepie socket sets and get a “free” 20pak of “Bopla” batteries that looked like Duraleaks.
Yeah, I even remember the brand.
2-3mos after the fact I figured I’d use them in some cheepie 3AAA lights… never got the chance. Those were all white and fuzzy like moldy cheese.
Right in the garbage…
