ALL THINGS BUDGET KNIVES

Really cool mod!

+1

CH, TwoSun, Dicoria, MG, and Lovocoo are very nice from solid sellers.

Thank you!
I could try to give the blade a stone washed finish but I’m not sure about that. Probably I’ll leave this one as it is.

Isti, good job, it remembers me to the HX OUTDOORS ZD - 004 a bit.

As a BENCHMADE loyal customer and EDCer seeing these Axis lock clones is a bit disturbing…

Not a fan of value for money?

Thanks!
I wanted to keep as much as possible of the original blade width otherwise I would have gone for version “B”.

Why exactly? Because McHenery and Williams chose tp sell the licence exclusively to Benchmade?
Or because you’re one of the few who thinks IP laws are only really good for anyone else but IP lawyers?

Just imagine Mr Walker would have decided to patent his improved liner lock system?
Would there be a Sebenza or such a big modern knife market at all?
I heavily doubt it. Would there be much more Axis lock knives if it was same free to use as the liner lock? I doubt it as well.
On the other hand the locking system would see improvements over the years, just like the other free systems do.

It’s also funny how times are changing. Buck were the ones to invent (or at least popularize) the lockback with the model 110 Folding Hunter.
Nearly every big knife maker (and many small ones, too) copied it with only the name on it being different.
Did it hurt Buck knives? Another doubt.

So is it that someone spends a lot of cash for such a special locking system (which is not so special after all if you see the Arc lock or LionSteel’s Axis lookalike with a different system) only to see that you can get a similar knife for so much less? Oh yes, the quality is not the same, but is it 10x better?

Come now, are you seriously applying logic here!?

Not really. I justify myself buying the TwoSun TS51 for $43 even though I didn’t need another knife with the fact that it’s a great herb cutter.

Probably it will be the same when I’ve bought by Sony XZ2 Compact as my S4 mini’s speaker is broken.
I mean, seriously, six years old phone and such a failure? Where’s the quality of the good ole days with the tin can telephone?

Frankly I like US made tools and I like Benchmade. I wish to encourage more US manufacturing. Even Benchmade utilizes foreign manufactures for their HK line and other offshoots. This wasn’t a dig on value or innovation. Frankly, I would like to see some of their best clones up close and what they do better. What could you recommend? Do any clones have Bohler or Crucible steels?

The new official French Army Knife (FAK? :stuck_out_tongue: ) has a licensed Benchmade © Axis Lock

And yes, it has a corkscrew! :smiling_imp:

I don’t mind a clone as much as a ‘fake’ They cross my line when they copy the name and the bug/butterfly.

It’s not called FAK, the French wouldn’t dare to name it this way.

They called it Le C.A.C. and C.A.C. Civil (maybe while remembering Versailles and why people didn’t like the corners there)

I always though the Chinese Army Knife should be the CAK, but maybe the C.A.C. is made there, too.

And dammit, they really added a corcscrew, how C%L is that?

Yeah the real name “C.A.C” is ugly to me! :person_facepalming:

"French Army of Earth" even google translate does a better job on that one (i miss the rofl smiley)

Fack?

:smiling_imp:

Looks nice, though. I’d rather have a fixed-blade option, though, like a nice Ka-Bar.

Seriously? It’s the only chance to get a certified tactical AXIS lock knife with a corkscrew!
Imagine the SWAT team (or however they call it in French) sitting at the table with a glass of Bordeaux:

“Fantastique! Zis magnificent vine has ze zame colour as ze blood of deese gansteurs we just shot down.”

You are right. It has to be Best French Army on Earth.

Sacre bleu!

No, no more details…

This is the answer of GB at my (many) questions about it:
“Hi friend,
I just check it for you again.
There is no shipping method now to be shipped to Italy.
So sorry for this issue.
Best regards”

No more knives (and no more deals!!!) from Gearbest!! :frowning:
Back to Fasttech and so on… :exclamation:
