ALL THINGS BUDGET KNIVES

Has anyone in the US purchased one of these French C.A.C knives? Who are the vendors and what are the shipping costs?

I didn’t order from gearbest for a long time when shipping to Switzerland was around $7-$8.
Because of this I prefered fasttech but their shipping is quite slow.

Now shipping on gb is less than $1 again and the Sanrenmu Land 910 series is on sale so I ordered 4 of them, 910+ in black and green, 9103 and 9104

All go to a friend who’ll give some to his brother who always loses them in the woods or at the airport .

(not a US guy here) Seen it on ebay (french seller) for ~100$. Not sure about custom duties?

Jake at CCE did a quick review on the F002… (yep, B0rk Riv€r Brâv0 clone :smiling_imp: )

His findings : softer 440C (or lesser steel), uneven grind out of the box on his.

Sanrenmu just announced the Land (you know, the big 7010) in VG10.

VG10 is quite a nice steel, especially for a budget knife. It sharpens up so nice and I can always get a very fine edge. Stainless as heck too.

It is called Land 812 which suggests it is between size of 710 and 910 (ie same size as 8103/4)
It also uses appears to use titanium handle (we can see lockbar insert).

I am very interested. Of course, depending on price and availability.

Already available on Aliexpress for 76$

Land 812 on Aliexpress

Wow that’s fast. And expensive (might still be value for money though). More expensive than the Y-start I was looking at.

Speaking of Y-start, any opinions on them? Has anyone found a pivot tool for them?

I only have a JIN01 from Y-start and the pivot screw use a standard torx print but i know the JIN02 is not the same.

The JIN01 pivot screw was too tight when i received it and i had to open it using two hands (easiliy solved).

It feels tough and heavy and was sharp enough out of the box but beside that it has nothing really special for me so i have barely used it until now.

Do you mean the Y-Start LK5015 and LK5014? You can adjust that kind of pivot screw with a simple flat head screwdriver.

Regarding the Land 812 the competition is quite strong in that price range (CH Knife, Two Sun, Y-Start, Green Thorn, Stedemon Vouking, Bear Claw etc.) so SRM should have released it with a more budget friendly price tag.

For that price you can get a small Sebenza clone, maybe a Kevin John one if they are still available, S35VN without CR logo but with Ti clip.

The 910 seires is outstanding because there’s no medium Sebenza so this one fills the gap.

With all the other budget Ti folders out there I wouldn’t pay more than $40 for this one so if I’d want a small Sebenza I’d order this:

Not worth it over the regular version, VG-10 is not much better than 12C27 steel, its like 14C28N. Only fine if you love the design and want a upgrade.

That’s the exact model I was thinking of! You can? I didn’t know if it was deep enough.

With their new line, it looks like Sanrenmu (is it the same as SRM?) is competing with their own brands like Ruike and Real Steel.

SanRenMu = SRM

Anyone have this Tigend? Or any Tigend for that matter. Ran across this one on Amazon and really like the look. Wondering if it’s decent D2. Looks like a well built slim flipper. I know sometimes looks can be quite deceiving. Price isn’t too bad, $29.99

There was a rumor that Sanrenmu was going to quit making cheap knives and rebrand as SRM

SRM (with characters written in English alphabet) is a sub-brand that appears to be aimed at the Western market and more refined knife models.

Of course we can see many knives available with both logos (in different regions) - the Asian SanRenMu logo (3 Chinese characters) and the Western SRM logo.

I agree, the price for the 812 is too much (especially from an Asian dealer); I am no longer interested.

Availability is a related problem. Take the recent Sanrenmu 1161 for example; it has been available for several months but still not on GB, Fasttech, Exduct etc. Just one or two Aliexpress stores (and ebay stores owned by same). Without competition the price is too high. I don’t know why Gearbest stopped listing new Sanrenmu models…maybe a dispute with the factory?

That’s an interesting model. Wonder how it compares to the Ruike P108. Probably made in the same factory.
