ALXM2 question

Hi,

Just recently got a solarforce L2N with one of their dropins and the light itself is nice but the drop in UI sucks. 3 modes, no memory that I can tell. Perhaps my SC52W has spoiled me UI wise. Anyway. I hear a lot of good stuff about the ALXM2 dropin from intl-outdoor.com. They have a lot of options too, mode wise. I was looking at the 4 mode (moonlight, low, med, high) and it says it has memory but can someone explain how the modes work, how quickly memory takes effect, how it works with a forward clicky and etc? I don’t want to buy another one to be disappointed with the UI.

About the zebralight. I love that I can be in low-low or high-high instantly from off. I love that it’s configurable too (but that’s not essential in a p60). Would I be happy with the ALXM2?

Basically, if it is left in any one mode for more than about 1 second it will memorize that mode. If you then turn off the light it will come back on in that mode, if you go to switch modes once it has memorized you will have to tap the tailcap twice to make it change modes. With a forward clicky I've found for me that it works best to first select the mode then click to lock into the selected mode.

Those modes are pretty good for a already built cheapie.

It's really easy to build your own. DrJones here does some amazing driver programming. (see luxdrv lupodrv ...)

My ALXM2 takes 5 sec. of on-time before memorizing. I wish it was 1 sec. (can I just change a capacitor?) Off-time memory would be even better but that is only possible with a reflash and maybe some hardware tweeking.

edit: it seems more like three seconds on my qlite drivers.

Several seconds here also, not 1s.

I ordered one. Thanks for the info guys.
