Just tested it, 2 of the “luminous green” would come out to 12.41 or something, so yeah, it’s a fixed discount, and out-the-door price depends on the base price.
Interesting that it both let me do multiple in one order, but would still be a valid code for another order, so stock up.
That’s pretty funny on the lighter price. It definitely doesn’t cost 20 normally. Similar lighters are being sold all day long for $8 for 2 pen style. The battery on mine previously purchase sucked and died right away. Holds a small charge to be useful but doesn’t last much before needing another charge. Pen Style
Does anyone have any direct experience with these things? Will they be good for anything other than cigarettes? Like maybe lighting kindling to build a fire? It seems like there were lots of people that commented that they died pretty quickly. (as in permanently died)
I did order three of them, then read reviews… just call me DA.
That may be the best use of these things. I got the first one yesterday. It shows fully charged. I tried it on a common envelope. I had to touch the paper directly to the electrodes to get it to burn. I think it would struggle to light a fire using small pieces of wood.
I think they’re mostly useful for candles. But for that, the gooseneck versions. I don’t smoke, and wouldn’t want to rely on them in a survival situation.
They’re like the push-in car-type cigarette lighters. You know, the ones where you push it in, it pops out, and the coiled foil glows red and lights your smokes when you poke the cigarette at it.
They’re for contact, and don’t just throw heat like an open flame.
Works fine for lighting a gas stove. In fact, the clicky type stoves use an arc to do just that.
Works fine for lighting paper on contact. Ditto for candles, where you stick the wick where the arc is.
But yeah, if you’re trying to light a small stick or something, you need kindling of some sort to light up first, then use that (an actual flame, not an arc) to light the stick.
Was going to bite on the lighter, but I see there’s a version with a pull out tube, seems better for reaching things as the “arc” does not really stick out like a flame would.
