a friend has one on order and has just put up a post on a local facebook group asking where on our home island he can buy 18650 batteries. I think he will just end up buying some cheap vaping batteries for now and end up being disappointed as he will buy some cells totally unsuitable for the quoted 12,000 lumen output…hmmmm
The advert does not give any spec or anything. I was just wondering if this lamp is a good deal or a rip off with poor performance.
Looks like one of many Skyray King clones. I think often these lights do something like 2000~3000 lumens or so. Therefore you also don’t need high drain cells. Quality is also often really bad, so I see no good reason to get one. These days you have excellent offerings from companies like Sofirn and Convoy for just a bit more cash as well.
Stay away from those deprecated Sky Ray King clones. Fake leds, poor driver, nowhere close to the advertised output. Get a BLF Q8 or Sofirn SP36 instead, you’ll get a solid 5000 lumen with decent batteries.
BTW: vaping batteries are usually pretty good but not cheap.
Dont get the sofirn sp36 off their store on aliexpress, they are selling items not in stock and making fake tracking numbers to prevent you from cancelling the order
Thanks guys
That was pretty much what I thought. For that price they had to be rip off’s
I have a Meteor M43, ( can’t remember which LED’s). I also have a 12 LED coke can size lamp from Mountain Electronics, when he was converting them from the basic 3 LED types.
I thought the Amazon lights looked too good to be true.
