I can tell you are not keen on Sofirn brand. Anyone flashlight collector knows Sofirn. I collect many flashlights : Klarus, Fenix, Olight, Nitecore, MF Tactical, Sofirn, Powertac, Maglite, Acebeam, Imalent, etc…. not to mention BLF specials.
Sofirn prices are VERY BUDGET friendly pricing with great engineering, build materials, quality.
I mention this because my background is engineering so I give perspective from that viewpoint. How the light is designed, built, cnc milling, etc…
I really hope Sofirn ups the release of a limited high powered light. I really want 80,000 100, 000 lumens. But would settle for 50,000 lumens with balance of flood and throw beam distance.
We discussed this just over 2 weeks ago in this very thread. Like I said here, just ignore them. They don’t mean anything. They disappear after 24 hours. There’s no point is devoting time to try and figure it out.
The only way to make high output at a reasonable cost is to use a COB. Instead of using 50x XHP70.2 at… I dunno, $10 each, use 4 30mm COBs at $30 each. I’ve actually thought about building a quad or triple COB light but the cooling requirements and power requirements are pretty nuts. A single Bridgelux Vero29 can consume 250w with ~200w or so of that needing to be rejected as heat.
Once I finish my Battle Lantern project, the 25k-30k lumen bazooka will be next. After that, I may try to do a triple.
I personally would not go so far as to judge who is & is not a “troll”… but I certainly agree with the “thin skin” part.
Sometimes I wonder if said skin may well be transparent it is so thin.
It doesn’t matter how “nice” or “smart” a company is, they have to sell their product at a profit. Unless Sofirn is getting some amazing prices on raw components or their designers and factory workers are working for free there is no reason a light made of the same components at the same quality would be any cheaper from them than any other competing Chinese flashlight manufacturer.
Convoy, Thorfire, etc. offer their products at almost the exact same price as Sofirn’s equivalents.
Hmmmm, I can’t really say I am aware of ajy active trolls then. It does seem at least some of the thin skinned people, that you mentioned earlier; appear to think that if someone’s opinion differs from their’s it is reason for a post to be reported.
That is comically sad.
Of course against the rules. :+1:
But it appears a very, very, very, few have their own “thin skinned” interpretation of the “rules”. And as you stated earlier…. that get’s or can get if you let it, “irritating”.
Hmmm…. that is one possible solution. :+1: Personally…… I like:
Lightbringer’s idea of the Challenge Button for a Reported post.
BlueSwordM’s suggestion that the ‘Reporter’ be required to PM the ‘Reportee’ the reason for the report.
This is not elementary school or a safe space, it is real life; even if it is the internet. IMO the ‘accused’ should be able to face the ‘accuser’…. even if it is by PM. There need be no reason to stay “anonymous” if it is a legitimate report.
I am betting if this was implemented the number of frivolous “reports” you, me, & others have been getting would drop to just about zero in a short time.
No hard feelings but can you please stop derailing this thread for your discussions about the REPORT button and trolls that misuse it for reasons unknown? The last two pages here were mostly about this button and this is absolutely not helpful for following up on Sofirn’s next developments. Thank you for your understanding!
