Hello there, I am newbie here :-) Would like to build some lamps to my workshop! I have in stock the amazing and popular obsoleted Jansjö by IKEA. Referenced by other BDL member, alexvh posted a basic modding many years ago: https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/31323
So, yesterday removed the lens and the cement base from the lamps. Here is a picture from the 20mm standard MCPCB with the low abilities LED. Its around 75 lumens with 3200K by default and I would like to pimp up these lamps.
My new findings are the followings:
New MCPCB copper base (from clemence), made for the fantastic Nichia 119 COB LEDs! And these are 1:1 matching replacement to the original aluminum MCPCB:
ERKX ER20S1-35-N-C.15.40.105 https://www.eurekatronix.com/product-page/er20s1-35
New LED driver - Mean Well a great and reliable brand - maybe a good choice! Its 350mA version:
MEAN WELL LDD-350L https://www.tme.eu/hu/details/ldd-350l/dc-dc-konverterek/mean-well/
Main power: Any Mean Well 12V switching power supply - would like to install a 'rail' system around the workshop with many connectors, so can use the lamps in any place, like near lathe, vise, or soldering station...
And finally new baseplate for the lamps: Need to be planned in the future, but would like to re-build the main base with big (and strong) neodymium magnet and with a tiny rocket switch, controlling by the lamp. The Mean Well driver has dimmable output - thinking about a potentiometer for controlling the brightness. A great idea catched from Chris from Clickspring: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6JkUO8AHOQ
What do you think? Are they matching with a good result? Any good idea maybe help me or just confirming they are at once matching with my new project. Thanks for reading this tread :-)
Mine handle 700ma with stock power supply just fine. I would say max 50°c. That’s with two stacked amc7135 and 4+ volts. So not very efficient.
Your setup is going to create a lot less heat.
Dimming is a very nice option.
My stock psu from 2011 has 4V 750ma.
I’m using another psu because I have 3 lamps in parallel.
On another series of lights I am using a MeanWell LCM60 with MySensors Dimmer at the drivers pwm input.
It looks you are going for a more lightweight setup for shop use.
Another problem: Cannot access @Clemence! Not responding since 5 days ago... PM'ed here across the forum and via eurekatronix.com chat system, but still nothing. Anybody can share with me an email address or anything else useful way? Thanks a lot.
Or any replacement 20mm MCPCB star made from copper? Would like to buy...
Thanks, but these are all for other LED types, Nichia 119 series has two solder tabs only. So these links are unusable for me (last link maybe brokened, got 404 error)
Hello,
Just thought I’d post it here. I am very happy I could manage to find a new and more powerful LED for my old IKEA Jansjö wall mountable lamps: Samsung LH351D 10W SMD 3535
I bought a warm white 2700K CRI90 on 20 mm copper. Just love the outcome! Replacement was easy, and now the lamps are really good and bright. Much better for reading than before.
Cheers Henno
