I’m down to a motley crew of miscellaneous rechargeable AA’s that most are probably a charge or two away from failing so it is time to restock. Everything seems so expensive! Is there a price tracker or ‘current good deal’ recommendation resource that stays current with deals, etc? Even Amazon has become very proud of their AA’s
I use my site for that. Whenever I buy NiMH I sort by watt hours per dollar: Parametrek Batteries
I like your website, Ill use it when I need to buy batteries again. I have a few of amazon basics cells start leaking lately. Is that normal after about a year of use? I feel like I should have gotten more out of them.
I just had a pair of copper tops leak in a TV remote. Alka-leaks……NEVER again.
If you have an IKEA store near you I doubt you can beat the price on their LADA 2450. Under $2 / cell for probably the best cells made today. I don’t think anything else comes close in $/Wh.

Would like to finally get into some black label eneloops but they are so dang pricey on Amazon that it’s looking like I’ll just get amazonbasics hi-caps
Are the LADDA Japanese or Chinese?
I think the newer Amazonbasics are now Chinese. Used to be Japanese.
I have some of the older Chinese Eneloops and they really don’t hold up as well.
I’ve got some A basics rechargeable AA that are made in Japan that I have had for 5 years or more that still work fine; I ordered 8 more recently and discovered that they are now made in China; sent them back.
Just check on the packaging before u buy
The key thing to watch for if you want high quality Low Self Discharge NiMh cells is “Made in Japan”.
First all Ikealoops used to be “Made in Japan”. Then the AA 1000mAh became “Made in China”. And now the AAA 500mAh are “Made in China” as well.
Perhaps the Made in Japan “regular” 1900mAh AA and 750mAh AAA currently offer the best compromise between cost/charge cycles/capacity. Their sticker price might be a somewhat higher than some other “made in China” NiMH, but in the end their value, or total cost of ownership over their complete lifetime might be (much) better than the cheaper cells.

Check out those Tenavolt AAs.
LiPo sack with converter/charger board inside, constant 1.5V ’til they suddenly up’n’croke.
I’m using one in a Xeno E03, works just like an alkaleak only no voltage drop as it depletes. Like I said, rock-solid constant brightness ’til it suddenly crokes when it’s out of juice, which can be a little unnerving, but it’s still worth it.
Not as bright in the E03 as with a 14500, but I get the “correct” m/l/h mode-spacing vs bright / not as bright / hella bright.
Would work fine in doodads like remotes, mice, keyboards, etc.
I’ve got a lifetime supply of eneloops and some amaloops, so I’m done buying them, but the Tenavolts are an interesting change.
I also recommend Ikea Ladda 2450. They seem to have the performance of Eneloop Pro but at a fraction of the cost. I am gradually changing all my stock to ikea.
Amazon Basics are all Chinese now. From the recent reviews QC has decreased a lot.
