Any ideas for a flashlight tripod?

Does anyone have any ideas for a flashlight tripod?

Or how to attach various shaped and sized flashlights to a regular tripod?

I bought a tripod for my camera to take beam shots in different locations but I would like something steady to hold the light as well. Preferably something cheap.

Thanks for any help and ideas.

maybe mount a picatinny rail to your tripod, then use a flashlight mount, or some other kind of mount that is adjustable

Fasttech has a small gorilla pod clone for $2.50:

...and the large for $6.60:

now thats a lot cheaper than my idea :stuck_out_tongue:

Perhaps this could be useful?

Cheap. After all, it's called Budget Light Forum for a reason...

I've found using a conduit clamp mounted to a tripod top works great (use 1/4" x 20 nut). I even use a wingnut on the bolt for quick release of the flashlight. Here's a similar idea using 2 conduit clamps (back to back) for a bike mount:

(Please don't judge me based on these two lights shown. They were at the beginning stages of my flashaholism and I hadn't moved up to Li-Ion yet.)

Thanks guys, I like the mount idea of the same tripod but that mount is too small.

It will need to hold lights like 4 x 18650 round ones as well as AA ones.

I just thought about some adjustable strap like the one for oil filters but cant think of any way to mount it that wont involve duct tape.

Conduit clamps should be available in various sizes :) . Of course that means removing them to change them out.

Thanks but I don’t want half a dozen or more of them, I want something adjustable that I can use with all of them.

I have been looking at some rubber adjustable mounts but nothing simple is showing up.

What about a board on the tripod, hole for camera bolt and two slots along side then get a Velcro strap for the lights?

Here’s what I made

I think Ill leave the camera where it is supposed to be mounted, but I like the velcro idea. I’ll look in to some other ways to attach it with velcro.

They are nice rikr.

I might end up doing that if I can’t work out something simple to attach it to the 1 tripod. I didn’t really want another tripod as I only have a single room and my car to keep things in and space is very limited but its a option that I might have to do anyway.

I just used a piece of wood I had and drilled a hole in the center and installed one of these in them.

What is the name of those?

diy tripod mount ?

Timber nutserts over here. I was thinking a short plank, bolt and nut through tripod, camera One side, flash light the other.

Balance maybe an issue though.

Split a piece of pvc pipe, after figuring out which diameter works best for you. Drill a hole about a third of the length used (mine’s made for D MagLights, so it’s 2” pvc about 8 inches long), tap it, thread it straight onto the tripod. Lets me lay one light after another in the halfpipe for direct beamshot comparisons while maintaining the focus point on each light. If you’re shooting a steep angle, a heavy rubber band holds the light in place easily. I also didn’t split it straight down the middle, but rather closer to a third for a shallower halfpipe for smaller lights to also fit.

Ten Buck camera tripod! Just modify it…
