I need recomendation for affordable red spot laser pointer with about 300mA - 800mA power (500mA would be awesome sweet spot).
From Aliexpress, about 30$, during this month while there are discounts there so I can use all those coins I collected.
It can be in parts, laser diode 640-660nm + housing, host, driver etc. or as a finished unit.
This would be my first laser so I am not looking for high quality (Olight, Acebeam, Nitecore…), I am looking for affordable WOW efect (Wurkkos, Sofirn) that will get me started in this field like when you get your first LED flashlight after only using incandescent lights and it makes you smile every time you click that switch.
And yes, I know about the laserpointerforums, thought registering there and asking the same question but you know how it goes with noobs and questions like this one, answer would be “here is a 752 page thread, all info you need is there”, beside that I noticed there is a lot of old threads, no new posts for months even years so that place mast also be winding down!
Anyhow, if you decide to give your input, thank you I appreciate your time and effort.
Ok, not much useful info there but I was able to find our that aliexpress, for some reason, is not the best place too look, ebay is much better, there is a boatload of models, colors, prices but its virtually impossible to know what are you buying regarding power rating, most of them look like badass lightsabers that can reach the Moon but we all know whats behind those beamshots Not saying Ultra-fire 8000mAh 18650 stories right there
Do you mean mA (which would be the drive current the diode needs, and not the actual laser’s output) or mW (which would be the output power of the laser itself)?
Assuming mW, and if you don’t mind a non-guy answering:
Both of those are definitely not eyesafe. Do you have laser goggles or need recommendations?
As for AE lasers, actual power levels will vary wildly (from very underspecced to very overspecced), because most people don’t have any way to measure a laser’s power. Check reviews from people who actually know what they’re doing, if any exist, otherwise you’re basically gambling.
Thanks for the input.
I know all about the danger of using powerful laser I just did not mention that because it’s much easier to find protective goggles (by laser wavelength).

watching the video right now
@wolfgirl42 non guys are welcome
Yes, I was reffering to output power in milliwatts, as when you say “I want a flashlight with 700-1000 lumens output” but lets presume you know nothing about flashlights, go to ebay and see all those 10000 lumens / 5 kilometers beam lights for 25$ and don’t know what to go for
I actually checked out JLasers yesterday and find them quite interesting, they look like reliable “you get what we advertise” place but they are a bit above the budget, I was looking for something in 30$ range, cheaper option (300mW) with international shipping would be about 90$ and thats above no tax limit so it would be +32% (total 110$.), while shipping from ebay/aliexpress (China) is free or 4-5$ in most cases.
I am ok with gambling for my first laser when you get into flashlights you dont buy 250$ Acebeam or custom 600$ titanium light with trits etc. you buy junk from ebay
