I’m struggling to find any AAA flashlight with a rosy tint (regardless of emitter) that’s available in the UK…
Don’t specifically need it to be a Nichia 219b - just any compact 1xAAA flashlight with a rosy-ish tint that’s actually available to buy? Seems that they’re all sold out now and replaced by emitters with a colder and more greenish tint?
Depending on the host its normally quite easy to swap the emitter. I’ve put together some custom builds for people in the past, a 348 with a 219b or 519b would be pretty straightforward. Send me a PM if interested
If a emitter is sold as "white LED", whether the tint is green or rosy is completely up to luck unless you can specify a bin (for example, the 219B at 4500K comes in the "k" bin which is super rosy). An emitter from almost any manufacturer can be rosy if it's from a rosy bin.
Depending on how rosy you want things to be: for mildly rosy, Cree XPL-HI are an ok choice, but low CRI. For very rosy and high CRI, look for 219B sw45k or 519A dedomed.
If access to these emitters is a problem and you don't care about CRI, here's a simple solution: get ANY light at all and install a minus green filter. Or just paint the front glass pink.
1. Pardon me if you already know: output of single LED 219b is low, and even lower (very dim) when you use AAA (versus Li Ion). I prefer quad LED for better output. If size is a concern and you would like quad LED, Emisar D4V2 with quad 219b 4500K is a fairly small light. Extremely popular and very pretty.
2. Example of Nichia’s with negative Duv: 219b, E21a, 519a, etc. Among these 219b has lowest Duv (most rosy/magenta) AND nicest beam, and is the most “popular.” That’s what I would recommend.
3. Outside of Nichia, Getian GT-FC40 4500K has negative Duv, but not nearly as negative or as rosy/magenta as 219b, and no AAA light for this one.
4. BTW 4500K is my preference for upper limit of CCT. Above that the beam color becomes too cold for me.
All IMHO & hope this helps.
My only problem with that Reylight Pineapple ‘Mini’ is that it’s absolutely massive for an AAA model. Freaking 9cm long - pretty much double the length of the more compact options out there and way too unwieldy to have on a keychain.
