A limp fire 18650 3000mah protected (protected my arse!) Fits and runs it without mods. Anyone interested or should I press delete?

Blue flashlight! Dowant!

The packaging said Cree on it, it was £7.50. I got it for my step son to take camping with scouts but decided to have a little play tonight since my c8 q5 arrived. I quite like it and it maybe a potential mod host.

do you have a link to the light? looks like a side clicky

It is a side clicky :cowboy_hat_face: not sure about a link, give me a second.

Um, no, sorry :8) I got it from Asda in England (bought out by wall mart) can’t seem to find it on their website, they may be available in red too but I like blue.

Cool — is that a threaded pill? (I wanted to call it a dropin just there, but that wouldn’t have been right.)

And does the battery carrier seem reasonably solid?

looks like it has a LOT of potential, since a proper battery fits…

It is indeed a threaded pill, by eye it looks to be 17mm driver, 16mm star, not sure about the emmitter, I’ll have to compare it on flashlight wiki I suppose.

Switch is reverse clicky (no momentary on).

Reflector is relatively deep and smooth.
The light feels heavier than my c8. I’m thinking that since I’m planning a driver swap on my c8 q5, perhaps I should order 5 1.4a 3 modes, and get another one of these to test.

Battery holder is not brilliant but there is space in there, an 18650 is a rattle fit.

I could do some proper measuring tonight?

Ok, did a bit of comparing tonight, the reflector will sit over an xm-l…….

The pill threads into the body of the light, with the reflector/head assembly screwing over it.
I’m thinking of modding my stepson’s to an xp-g/1.4a driver and getting some eneloops, and getting one for me, fitting an xm-l u2/2.8a driver to build a little pocket rocket run on a spaced 18650/eneloops depending on if it ends up in swmbo’s bag. I really like this little host! 8) :cowboy_hat_face:

These will be my first mods, but a driver/emitter swap is, as far as I can see no worries - unsolder driver/star, extract, fit new driver/star, hit magic button. I’ve no idea of the switches current handling capacity, but I’m sure that can be dealt with in due course. Roll on pay day!

I like the looks of this light and would like to have one but if i understood you correct these are not in the U.S… I want a side clicky light does anyone know if there is a resonably priced light that fits the bill that can be modded and looks like this one or close.

Sorry, I’m in the UK, Asda is owned by wall mart, so its not inconceivable that wall mart carries these, but you’d have to drag your arse out to one and see…… It was in the camping/outdoor/cycling section at my Asda, they had a few cheap shower head/pepper pot lights and these babies, I WILL be modding this one and another for me at least, their rated 3w so not a total let down stock, but I see a few opportunities to experiment here. If you get really desperate, I could always pick one up and drop it in a brown envelope at the end of the month, or if the mods go well, mod one and ship it out? We’d just have to come to an arrangement, then mark it as a gift

Ok maybe we can figure something out.

Thank you

No worries, maybe wait till i’ve modded a couple, otherwise it could be an expensive experiment with shipping, but let me know if you want me to grab one.

Thats a good idea. Will see how they turn out and go from there.
