Anyone use a portable car jump starter?

Yes I’m a big fan of Anker, it did surprise me to find this other company inside but as you say, I’m sure Anker have had it made to their quality standards. The performance of the pack I have been very pleased with. That is me yes, sorry for the accent lol!

I love your accent dude! It’s much better than mine!

Great video! Your accent is great and reminds me of Julian Ilett’s, I watch his videos all the time

These portable car starter are simply a very high discharge LiPo in 3S, normally rated 30-40C, directly connected to the output. People have been using 3S even 4S LiPo to start engines long ago before these were released to the public, however some people may find it hard to believe such a small device can start a car, they are used to see those heavy and bulky emergency starters.

I use this with great success…. RAVPower

I’m not sure where Julian is located in England but defiantly a different region, I’m southwest so a farming area really. I watch nearly all of Julian’s stuff, along with bigclive the Scottish? Fella.

Todd does a good comparison here and jump starts his tractor!

I have an Arteck D29 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XChrWjPszw8

It's starts my 3L straight-six diesel no problems, they also do a 900A version now.

With many short trips you could prevent lots of hassle by fully charging your car battery once pr month. Even the new batteries.

I had one of these chinese jump starters and never had a problem jump starting my diesel cars.

Well, anyway, one day when I was reading off topic chatter in a flashlight forum, thinking about posting about how flashlights are one of the most spiritual things in the materialistic world, if not so very close to being the most spiritual things in the materialistic world, when I came upon a three year old topic that was bumped up by a spammer. I did not include the external link in the quote.

Here is the best website, which was very helpful to me: www, howtotellifapostisspam, com

That’s what the “Mark as SPAM” button is for. Once several people agree, bybye spam, our host SB will nuke it and the spammer both.
As I see has already happened in this thread. Thanks SB!

PS to Richbuff — when you quote the complete spam in a subsequent response, that kind of defeats the purpose of marking it as spam so it will disappear from the thread. Remember you can edit your older responses (as I’m doing here).

Good video thanks! Basically all of the jump starters have false specs. How does a 2200 max amp starter only produce 334 amps! Anyway, I have a Lithium jump starter pack too and it has saved me from a lot of headache enough times in Winter that it's a keeper.

I used my Suaoki T3(discontinued?) for about the 40th time today getting my tractor/mower started, and topping off the air pressure in the tires and in the trailer. Never a problem so far. Worked as well on my aged butt willing 1995 Ram1500 5.9 liter which is admittedly a quick starter, whenever it sits too long. A guest had 2 flats on a rental, rather than call AAA, we just used the T3 to pump up the flats and drive it to a repair place and go to breakfast. Definitely think these are useful tools in any prepper kit.

I’m not debating that these little jump starters are useful, especially if there is partial charge on the battery they are assisting, but keep in mind that peak amp ratings on these units basically mean the same thing as lumen ratings on as-seen-on-TV flashlights.

I saw one test of a Noco GB40, which should be a decent brand, and claims 1,000 Amps. The fairly common load tester works by using voltage under a 100A load to estimate what the cold cranking amps would be.

The Noco couldn’t even provide the 100 Amps warm, while a lead-acid based unit that looked like it had been around a few years was still testing at roughly half of its CCA rating.

Youtuber Big Clive abuse tested a unknown brand model by short-circuiting it across a copper bar. He managed to measure about 500A that way, for about a second before the magic smoke started to escape.

I too had doubts about these batteries but I saw a friend jump start a big car with one of them.
They really work.
And they don’t really need to give out 600A.
Medium cars only need like 200-300A and bigger ones around 400-500.
Someone made a youtube video where he tested more brands and measured the current and most of them gave around 250A and were able to start trucks.
But I think they don’t last much because Li-PO doesn’t like to be discharged like this
