anything to talk about glow sticks?

 :crown: :crown:
I never saw mini glow sticks!! Theyā€™re so cute!!!

Then put them in the fridge?

I remember they say putting the glow sticks in fridge helps prolong the lifetime. Is this claim right or wrongļ¼Ÿ

sadly mini glowsticks ran out of stockā€¦
wowā€¦
Iā€™d always thought glowsticks were out of date in my area
everyoneā€™s switching to freebie led glowsticks here

I donā€™t know about prolonging lifetime in fridge. Nevertheless I put them inside the fridge to prevent tropical heat >.<

I know that once activated and glowing, putting it in fridge drops the brightness but prolongs runtime
(itā€™s the other way around when you heat the sticks it shortens life but gets brighterā€¦ hence the microwave glowstick explosion vid lol)

Iā€™ve tried boiling glowsticks chemical and it get real bright but once it starts to bubble and boil, the chemicals change and stopped glowing ā€œimmediatelyā€
Iā€™ve also poured glowstick chemicals on dry ice and it frozeā€¦ but didnā€™t stop glowing

I should consider posting a video one day to try things out mm (I guess iā€™m too lazy to do so)

NEVER count on a glow stick working for you in an emergency situation. They do have a finite shelf life and there is no way to test them before you need them. There was a story linked to on this forum about some cave explorers that determined that over half of their glow sticks (even those from reputable makers) failed to work properly or at all.

Indeed, I think most guys here will agree that glowsticks are for backup and fun purpose.

I think they are only good for fun stuffā€¦ I would not trust them for backup. That said, I do have some mil-spec ones that put out IR light for use with night vision equipment. You can get good glow sticks, but still there is no way to test them. If you need a reliable source of light, glow sticks ainā€™t it.

I ordered about ten of these in 2013. They are still perfect. Pretty bright though dim soon.

i have not used glowsticks in a long time, as the technology/chemistry have not improved much in 25 years. i just have some LED battery powered glow-sticks by Silvania that last 5 times as long on $1 dollar worth of LR44 cells. ( and they are brighter, reusable, etc.

Thread dying I guessā€¦
Glowsticks conversation coming to a stop soon

but I just got myself the smallest sticks the shop offers as well as the largest :davie:

no time to try them outā€¦
my christmas nights are getting busyā€¦ oh well

This big stick is cool.

I have some blue sticks, gift them sometimes to Rambo fansā€¦but always fear that they donā€™t work because they got cracked in the parcel with which I got themā€¦

I have bought a larger pack 50-100 of the small ones in a fishing supply 10 years back and they work very good.
Ones bought a 10pack of these longer thinner tubes which you can use as a bracelet or link together for a Sylvester partyā€¦all the colored tubes were barely visible after less than 2 hours and the green ones were also a lot dimmer than the small sticks I haveā€¦sad:(

I see no real use in these sticks, unless for fun.
I never have owned/used a flare which you Americans seem to have in your cars. But thankfully situations were I might need them are very rare:

ahh. glad yours can last. I wouldnā€™t be able to buy bulk due to my area

I kept a couple of glowsticks in ā€œcool dry placeā€ but apparently my country is way too hot to be considered cool

both lights of mine doesnā€™t glow.
I assume Iā€™m buying cheap chinese lights. Given some expensive ā€œcolemanā€ branded onesā€¦ 3 months later it died without me using it.

Wished I could love glowsticks more but I guess if I wanna use it Iā€™ll buy from store when I need it
