Im getting more and more into flashlights so I need something to store my batteries in...
I see that Ebay sells these types of plastic snap cases to hold 4xAA batteries. Ive seen 4 cases for $1USD shipped?? Thats a pretty low price...the cases are kind of generic and look like this.
Are they any good? Are some cases better than others? Thanks...
Well I was in the same dilemma 2 days ago. I read the review on amazon etc and I decided to buy the good stuff so I don't have to buy again. I ordered the powerpax AA holders in yellow and orange. I checked them out on youtube and everyone seems to like them very much. At $5 each + shipping it's not cheap but it's the best for the size and weight. I should get them by next week.
Those look really nice I saw your post in the Gear section here...do you think its okay they are an open design and wont keep out dust/debris like a closed style case?
But I can tell the plastic on those ones are good and solid molding, and some even glow in the dark, PLUS USA made, those are probably the best...and good for traveling too.
Go to a fishing takle store or places where they sell it and get yourself the compartment carriers, store more batts and i even use them to keep my lights in.
And for my edc light i usually use a small sheath with velcro flap to keep either rcr's or aa's depending on the lights carried. Basically use what you have, another trick for battery storage is those excedrin pill containers, there the right size to put an AA battery in and for rcr's i use a plastic pill fob which you can get at stores like Rite Aid and Walgreens......
Well I specifically choose that battery carrier because they are designed to be inside of a bag and they should last a decade or two. They are clearly not dust or water resistant. I don't have them yet but they say they are safe from shorting out...unless you drop them in iron filings or something. See the video: http://powerpax.3dcartstores.com/video
If you want more battery storage for your home follow alfred's suggestion above.
If you need water/dust proof see pelican cases. http://www.batteryjunction.com/pelican-cases.html
We live in an area where we get hurricanes and tropical storms so i tend to stay prepared when it comes to the batts, I charge all my cells a couple of days before hand and use them first in all my lights. For going out i just use that sheath posted in the pic and stuff it with the appropriate cells.
I have 8 Eneloops and 24 Duraloops Japan made. It is easier to go looking for Duraloops then it is easier for me to find Eneloops. Now all i can find are the Duraloops with the black tops that are made in China but i would not mind getting the new Duracell Pre-charged that are out now. For Maha users, for future reference when buying cells, if the cells you bought dont come close to the stated mah give customer service a call, they will ask you how you got your info and just let them know what charger you use.......i usually tell them i did a break-in followed by a charge and discharge at 1 amp and then a R/A followed by another break-in. If i am not happy with the numbers then i usually give them a call to rectify the situation, so please lets be honest, this is not to gain more cells------more then likely they will send you more cells that came from a newer stock------
Ebay : A bit small. The third AAA slot doesn’t fit a third AAA. Sort of stupid. I had to file and burn down a few of the fins to put my 18650s & 26650s in good on the far left & right compartments. Also doesn’t stack well. For example: max of 4 18650s in a given room, whereas if given 5mm or more It coulda done 6 (2x3) 18650s. For 8 bucks, you could find domestic stuff that is better.
Walmart’s Tackle box : Really good for it’s size. Only bad is it’s overpriced at my local walmart at 2 dollars more. The 2x spacing is perfect for AA & AAA, with about 1 CM gap. 3X is perfect for 18650s with a 1CM+ gap also, fitting 5-6 18650s in each 3x space compartment. Meanwhile fitting 2-3 26650 in the same space. I didn’t have enuff AA or AAAs. But I’m estimating 9 AA in a 2X spacing compartment & 16 AAA for the same spacing. Only con is no swivel type handle so common on tackle boxes. So this would more qualify it as a divider. There is indentations for some sort of handling, but I’d rather carry it with 2 hands given it’s a tight squeeze even for my fingers.
