Are there any stylet folder knife like the ganzo g707 from another budget chinese high quality brand?

I’m going to check the prices. Thanks a lot!

Which one is your favourite Rough Rider at the moment?
I’m planning to order an RR1288 half hawk and an RR1044 whitler as my first RR folders.

RR944 Granddaddy Barlow

Blade Material: 440 Stainless Steel
Blade Length (cm): 9.5
Blade Thickness (cm): 0.3
Closed Length: 12.70
Overall Length (cm): 22.9
Not a small knife but the saw-cut bone fits just right, seems we get screwed in the U.K. over prices on these as well, £16, $29 for this, worth it though.

Wow, cool folder!

Rough Rider also has a stiletto (RR465B).

Cool stiletto isti242, same as the Magnum that Teutate posted above, as it’s a Boker Magnum it should be available to xatu. I’ve not seen one listed in the U.K. though.

isti242, the RR Granddaddy Barlow I bought from Heinnie Haynes £15.95 so about €20, well made and good fit and finish scary sharp out of box and it has stood up to hacking a few pieces of greenwood about. Fits my hand well as the saw-cut pattern in the bone grips without any hot spots.

It seems a good knife Steve. By the way, there are some new sanrenmus and ganzos in FT. One sanrenmu in the steel of moras. But there are sooo tiny… :frowning:

Yes, I’ve got a Ganzo G725-M on the way from FT

Not your style I know but some of these old-style slip joints have a certain charm and they are legal EDC here, I’ve bought a few Rough Riders in the past couple of weeks and like their simplicity, if I need a lock knife then I’ll use one but these little knives can handle most EDC tasks.

I really like these SanRenMu’s

I might have to wait for a while because I’ve got one of these on the way.
Spyderco Military Sprint Run Brown G10 $230 from Spyderco, Discontinued.

Spyderco Military no Sprint, no Run, barely walking Brown G10 $17.78 from AliExpress, Available.

Nice.

I like Spyderco, but for some reason they’ve never fitted my hands the way my Cold Steel knives do. Really like my Rajah 3 serrated.

Don’t know why people think it’s a big knife though. By Cold Steel standards it’s nearly a micro knife.

That’s one of the inferior versions of the military clones. It’s ok if you are not concerned about the less detailed jimpings on the liner-lock and on the finger choil and the slightly different letter type on the blade (and sometimes the screwed up grind lines near the tip of the blade).
Have a look at the $35+ versions they managed to eliminate these problems.

I like specially the new sanrenmu 7071. If it would has a long blade of 8.5 to 10 cm… Please sanrenmu MAKE BIGGER KNIVES!!!. A more practical long blade!. |( AND MAKE FIXED KNIVES!! (not micro fixed knives). :weary:

I know that for that low price the quality isn’t going to be the best, if I like these I may spend more on the next. I doubt that I’ll be hard using them and I definitely won’t be passing them on to anybody who might think that they were the real deal.

I hear you and feel your pain but it’s not going to happen. There are some nice fixed blades on Ali Express if you take time to look for them but nothing you would call cheap.

Really alixpress is full of fakes, it is a bit dangerous. And it must be cheap yes, if not i prefer try with some spanish knives from Cudeman or Muela, they are great knives. Examples: Muela lobo, muela tanto, muela jabali, cudeman 106 and 107, cudeman boina verde… etc etc

I completely agree with you, AliExpress is the go to place for fakes, I wouldn’t expect to buy genuine Spyderco, Medford, Brous, any of the American “name” brands - with the exception of maybe some of the brands that outsource knife making to China, some Buck knives, Smith & Wesson, Browning and some others are probably made on the same production lines, manufacturer orders 20000 of a knife and 40000 are produced, an overrun of genuine but usually lower cost and quality knives.

I was genuinely surprised at the high quality of the Medford copy that I bought, nothing like an original, wrong materials and finish so not easily mistaken for the real thing. The quality was easily as good as the top name Chinese makers and it is a very good knife in it’s own right. For around $20 it’s a bargain. I was expecting sloppy construction and poor finish, not so, it even has phosphor bronze washers on the pivot and takes a very good edge, I haven’t used it hard but it would take a lot to damage it.
The blade steel is probably 8Cr13MoV but that’s fine by me, Chinese makers know how to heat treat it well.
There are plenty of great performing and looking knives by Muela and Cudeman, it’s just that the cheap clones offer something a bit different and I’m not taking anything away from the makers of the knives that are copied because I just plain can’t afford to buy the genuine article, if I could I would, there’s a Spyderco Military clone that I’m going to buy next, it’s a brown G10 that was only produced as a sprint run at $240, the copy is $18, do I expect the same materials, no but it’ll be another knife that I can add to the collection, as a fake and nothing else you are talking Enlan money not rather more expensive Spyderco.

Yes Steve, i started buying fake knives years ago but after some fakes i saw enlan, sanrenmu and so and the prices were not much more expensive. From my fakes i have some very very good, fit and finish like sanrenmu or better (yes, it is incredible), the boker fakes were very good (but the steel i do not know), but others were crap, and dangerous. A bit hit and the lock system is out. There are much differences between one fake and another.
But i know that much fakes use very very poor steel like 3cr13 and 5cr13, if it was 8cr13 i would be happy, but i think fakes do not use 8cr13 like enlan and so. I know it is hard fight with the tentation… Ganzo perhaps is good, they copy the real models but with quality steel and are copies not fakes.
Well, navy copies spyderco but i am tired of read about bad threatment or bad steels from navy, i have not any navy for that.
By the way, why enlan do not bring us new models??. Harnds, ganzo and sanrenmu bring a lot…

Yeah its a shame…
But it is really 12C27 steel ? Seem too cheap to be real. Also the blade has a cool stonewash finish.

I think there are legal issues in China that prevent them from making bigger knives.

A mora companion mg stainless steel has the same steel 12c27 and it costs 12€. I think it is real the sanrenmu.

Then why enlan, ganzo, inron, navy, harnds have bigger blades from 8.5 to 10 cm?. All brands from China.

I think that it depends on which area of China the knife company operates from.

Both Real Steel and SanRenMu use 12C27 in their knives, it’s genuine.

For a while the sanrenmu.com website has had this banner running, I know that it isn’t the “real” SanRenMu site, as far as I know there isn’t one, but they seem to be agents for OEM and wholesale sales, although you can buy from them in smaller numbers as well.

Production management

SanRenMu future knives. There are some very good looking knives, the 7078 I like.
It might mean that they use the detent lock on more knives - hopefully under 3” blades so they are EDC-able in the U.K. selfish I know but there aren’t many Chinese knives that are legal for us in the U.K. that look as good as the main production, knife laws are tightening all the time and it’s always good to have choice.
