Yes!, i like the 7078 too, but is seems slip joint? I prefer locking blades (my laws let it). Beautiful knife IMO.
Thanks for the info. BTW fastech added the 7078 https://www.fasttech.com/products/1901/10001877/1768202-sanrenmu-7078mux-ghv-stainless-steel-foldingX
ALso in 12C27 but its not really like others Sanrenmu, maybe a copie or made for a different market.
Yes, the box isn’t the sanrenmu style and i don’t see the SRM logo anywhere (blande and box). It seems it isn’t a SRM. And, it hasn’t a lock system?
Well, finally the 7078 is a srm knife. But it is made for China market only, for that the look is not the sanrenmu style.
But it is a non locking system knife :weary:

The SanRenMu system of dual ball detent is far removed from the old style slip joints and with the finger choil it gives good warning that the blade might close. If it folds on you you are doing something really stupid with a folder.
Good to see FastTech adding to the range even if some are slip joints.
I’ll be getting a pair when funds allow.
The 7049’s are a nice knife as well, I got one a couple of months ago, they have the CRKT “Firesafe” system that locks the blade closed until the thumbstud is pressed.
By the way the 7078 is like a poor man kershaw echelon… , well, a bit.
I like 7049 too, but the handle… the blade is interesting. But i do not know the button you must push if it is more difficult for opening fast. The classic 723 like me too. The enlan l01 mct too, there are too many knives i like!!

The thumbstud disengages the liner lock, it stops the blade from opening as well as closing, to open you press the thumbstud inwards, it is spring loaded and goes right through the blade-
this disengages the lock and the blade opens, very like having a detent ball but you can choose the force with which the blade is opened, store the energy with your thumb behind the stud then press inwaeds slightly and the blade opens as quick or quicker than without the extra lock.
I can open the blade easily, a couple of practice openings and you’ve got the muscle memory stored. The handle is stronger than it looks, it has steel liners that are skeletonised to match the framework, the whole package makes sense using the carabiner clipped to a backpack, no chance of the blade opening but ready to hand and one hand opening if needed.
That Kershaw Echelon is interesting, pick your own position for the thumb stud, or just use the slot.
Really sanrenmu has a lot of new models. I am asking me why enlan has the same models years ago and no new models. Enlan has almost the same quality of sanrenmu but it makes bigger models.
Harnds is a good one too, it would must get out new models with 9cr18mov.
Its bigger model seems to be sold out too. I have the viper, it is not bad.
But the only brand that have not sharp liners/edges are sanrenmu and enlan, ganzo and harnds have sharp edges/liners every where…
Now i do not know if buy a new chinese folder or try a famous mora…
About the 7049 i saw a video, it can be seen cleary the mechanism (thanks Steve). But you can not open with a finger hit for example or a fingernail hit. But it is more secure too, it will not open in your pocket.
Hi xatu, have a look at these sites, plenty of choice and where the knifemakers buy maybe.
Oslan
Yuangdong Fengli
Have a good look round, you might see some familiar knives.
Don’t know whether these are agents or manufacturers but the min orders are way above me.
