If someone else is a terrible speller, that's fine, but I try to use proper spelling and grammar.

plus there are a lot of words that sound the same now, that would BECOME the same
even more meanings on a single word
at least now you can tell what they mean, if you see them spelled out

It’s amazing when you think about it. And it seems so easy that we take it for granite.
With all the languages and dialects that have developed over the years, it’s a wonder that children or anyone can learn to speak, read and write.
And where and how did these all develop?

I was reading a job posting last week. Passed on it when I saw that one requirement was “must speak fluid English”
but really, as long as we understand each other, I don’t care.
Perfect use of the language won’t, in itself, make you understandable.
And poor use of it won’t make you immediately indecipherable.
I work with a lot of doctors and nurses who learned English as their 4th, 5th, 6th language. On top of that, I work on the Neuro unit. Stroke and seizure patients. Being able to interpret what is meant through bad grammar, accents, misspellings, and even stoke induced word salad - is a more meaningful skill than memorizing the spelling of words and rules of grammar will ever be.
