ArmyTek ProV3 - button acting up

I have an ArmyTek Wizard Pro V3, brought it used. It seems in pretty good condition. I use it in moonlight mode alot, and every once in a while, when I hold from off to shortcut into moonlight, it would think I double clicked and go into medium. It always catches me off guard and make me think back if I held it and then let up and press down again. But it’s happened often enough that I think it’s a button issue.

I have a Skilhunt that double clicks for turbo and hold-from-off for shortcut to moonlight. I’ve never tried to get moonlight and gotten turbo instead.

Am I the only one having this issue with the ArmyTek? The ArmyTek buttons are very stiff, which makes their multi-click shortcuts much harder to hit correctly. But I would think a hold from off should work more consistently. I know the times when it falsely reads a double click when I really only held down - those times there wasn’t a second “click” sound. It’s not like I let up enough for the button to click again. But it’s possible I let up a little bit? If that’s what’s happening, the button (rather than the user) is not designed well.

Just curious if I’m the only one and maybe it’s a bug, or if it’s a widespread design issue with the button. I’ve not rread this issue when I researched.

Is that the Wizard you bought from me? I’m sorry you’re having issues with it.

I didn’t experience any problems with the switch, but I agree that the Armytek switches feel a bit stiff, which makes double-clicks a bit fiddly. I’ve had two Wizards and one Tiara and they all felt like that.

Since the Armytek headlamp switches are on the side of the head, I find it easiest to ‘squeeze’ the switch with my index finger on the switch and my thumb on the opposite side of the head.

It also feels like there’s only a small ‘sweet spot’ right in the middle of the rubber boot. Perhaps that’s a side-effect of the LEDs inside the lighted switch? I try to put my finger directly over the raised middle portion of the boot for reliable activation.

I’m interested to hear what other Armytek owners say about this.

I’ve had one for a year and I’ve possibly seen some abnormal behavior before but didn’t think too much of it. I just experimented with very slowly and steadily applying pressure to press (click) and hold and I’ve been able to get a whole variety pack of abnormal behavior. I can sometimes get a click and no light at all, or moonlight and then strobe, or moonlight and then last mode, and sometimes last mode. I reset back to one of the middle modes most of the times before every new attempt. So it seems to be a question of just not pressing it hard enough. If you give it a firm press it does everything it’s supposed to do. Just to clarify. Once it clicks if you ease up on the pressure even a little bit you may not start in moonlight and progressively ramp up. I’d chalk it up to trying to cram a whole lot of function into one interface. If I shift my wife’s vehicle into drive too quickly after starting it the gear shift lever will move to the drive position but the vehicle is still stuck in park. And instructions come up on the dashboard telling me to put it back into Park. Even though mechanically it’s still in park. So is it a problem? Not really.

@goshdogit, yes, that’s the one. I’m pretty happy with it for the most part especially for the price. I think it’s just like every light I have - some oddities with the light.

Oh, ok, yeah, that’s one I’ve seen a couple of time. I guess it’s not just my unit.
