I purchased an EC01 & EC03 probably a year & 1/2 ago. At the time, the Samsung 40T was highly recommended. (the IMR/Orbtronics site states these are discontinued) & a lot of places are out of stock. Has anyone heard if they are being discontinued ?
Also, Is there now a better battery with more power / more mAhs available & appropriate for use in these lights ?
thanks, Eclat
Samsung 50S
if u want max runtimes get samsung 50e or those… otherwise maybe Molicel INR21700-P42A but i think a bit overkill for the ec03 not sure if it even pulls close to 20 amps on turbo ?
but 40t isnt really discontinued? thats a good battery for most lights.
I use a P42A with my EC01. Price was reasonable and it was readily available.
The 50S looked great, from what the few people who got their hands on them had to say. But I think it’s been a bit like a unicorn in terms of availability.
One of the regular reviewers here found that going from the 40T to the 50E with the EC03 came at a cost of ~1500lm in turbo. The EC01 draws ~15 amps in turbo.
Pick your poison.
wow damn. 15 amps are u sure ? but its just a single xhp50 emitter? i would guessed more around 10amps max…. strange thats alot of amps for as single emitter.
On turbo, 1lumen measured 14.8A from a 40T in their review. Banggood recommends at least a 20A cell.
It definitely does pull at least 20amp.
I have both EC03 in SST40 and XHP50.2.
Both tested with Uni-T UT210E Pro as follow when fully charged at 4.2V :
P42A - SST40 - 20.3Amp
50S(Vapcell T50) - SST40 - 21.5Amp
P42A - XHP50.2 - 23.2Amp
50S(Vapcell T50) - 24.1Amp
I have also tested with other 5000mah cells like Sofirn and Liitokala just to see how much difference.
Those Sofirn and Liitokala can only do up to 17ish amp at turn on and drop drastically to about 14ish amp after a few seconds. While the P42A and 50S can hold much more longer.
thanks for info good to know.
